Your "Oh crap, I'm screwed" moments...

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:20 pm

We've all been there, in a huge fight with someone or some creature, no Health potions, out of Magicka, and you said: "Oh crap, I'm screwed, I'm GOING to die!"

I just had one of those moments. I was 'escorting' Guilbert Jemane to Chorrol just for fun when I got simultaneously attacked by a Highwayman and a Mountain Lion!

Mountain Lions HURT too, ugh. I died quickly being only at Level 10 right now. :( I was frustrated, but didn't have to redo much after reloading my 'autosave'.

What are yours?

(I've been kind of a TES Forum junkie today, lol, posted like 5 new Topics, commenting like a mad man, but they've all been good discussions. :) )

I was in the Deadlands fighting off a Daedroth and a Storm Atronach. That alone wasn't that bad, just positioned the Daedroth in between myself and the Atronach and then danced in and out the Daedroth's attack range.

Suddenly, somehow, out of no where, TWO Xivilai AND their summoned Clannfears surround me. I'm dead in seconds.

Yeah, those Xivilai (apparently pronounced 'Ziv-uh-lahy') are nasty brutes, take a few of my 400 point spells to bring them down, as long as they don't absorb it, ugh. I hate going into any Gate to Oblivion, though I usually just run straight through ignoring all of them.

I primarily play as melee characters, so Xivilai (that's how I always pronounced it!) aren't the problems for me. The Clannfears that get in the way and reflect damage are though. Ugh. That's the nice thing though, each enemy has its own strengths and weaknesses, and it causes for different experiences depending on what type of character you play as. ;)

I had my godly equipments ready, and activated that stone in a tree in Shivering isles. You know, for THAT one quest

Then I whacked myself, thinking this is going to be just like any other foes.

2 seconds later I realized my health bar is red, my attributes and my combat skills drained to bits.

I screamed in my head: "OH CRAP! IT HAS ABSORBS AND REFLECT DAMAGE!"

2 seconds later the Load Game popup appears :sadvaultboy:

That was the first time I thought "Maybe being godlike is not that fun..."

Very true. Hope I wasn't being arrogant with mentioning the pronunciation, I just always pronounced it wrong ("Z-vix-ial") until hearing the proper way when the name was mentioned in-game.

I prefer a Magic based character as I believe that I can do a LOT more damage with a 400 point spell rather than even a Daesric Warhammer. :) Plus, spells don't weigh anything, and they don't get damaged like weapons do. That's why I chose to be a Sorcerer; all the preference of using Magic, while boasting the heaviest (though now completely weightless) and most effective armor. ;)

Being a Sorcerer though, my WORST enemy is a Lech, they reflect like 100% of Magic is seems. I cast one of my deadly Destruction spells at them and I'm toast, literally after a Fire Damage one!

The worse for me was going into the main quest's final battle unprepared. After the heart of Lorkhan, I didn't think it would be difficult but realized it would take a long time ( eventually I did it.) Xivilai/Valkynaz/ are (or should say were) probably the most difficult enemy, but I just zap anything in one at this level (target spell with 100 fire/frost/shock/drain dmg for 1-3 seconds), unless I am completely surrounded. Spell reflection on an enemy I hate.

When I was walking along one of those tight bridges in Oblivion (they should put some damn railings on those things) with a follower. The dumb-ass follower thought it would be funny to stand right next to me. Since the bridge is kinda made to be run single file; it made my character slip. He didn't fall off, but he was pushed to the brink; the proverbial "point of no return". You know.. Like when you keep slipping down and moving upwards does nothing but keep you character in place. And you can't jump because you're slipping..

So I decided to sod it and fall into the lava below. :celebration:

My oh crap moment has to be every single time I go into an ayleid ruin with an archer character, which I play allot of and get ambushed by zombies or trolls.

By the time I swap to dagger and pull out a poison, I'm dead. :(

On a certain Thieves Guild quest I was sneaking through a cave for about half an hour. I came to a door with a Very Easy lock that I had to get through. I had no lockpicks and had to turn around again. :banghead:

Aylied Ruin. Two high level zombies, me with sufferthorne and my assassin build. Hit one zombie and did maybe 45% Damage, but to get that much I used all my weapons to broken all my repair hammers and a lot of running backwards and using spells and potions to stay alive. When it got to the point that I realised I was out of weapons I was like O_O.... then I backed into a corner... *Load Screen time*

Buffy only has a tiny red hitpoint bar and gets easily flustered when panicked, so she has had quite a few close calls. If is just her, she can often disappear, leaving a summon in her place. Often however these involve her trying to protect her horse at the expense of her own fragile little self - she will not abandon her precious mare. We have a voice set mod, and about the time she starts to moan in pain, I stop time for her by opening her menus. Given a few moments to then calmly think about what she is doing, she is able to salvage the crisis and survive with some pretty clever solutions. In 600 hours, she has not actually ever died, thank Mara.

I just came across an Ogre today, and after two Mountain Lion assaults, an Ogre isn't a pretty sight. Nevertheless, I won with maybe 10 HP left. I blame myself for almost dying, as I hadn't enchanted my weapon, but I wanted to wait until I had got Azura's Star, which I was on my way to get...

Ha ha ha. Good times. The exact same thing happened to me. I ran in there with my Khajit (my very first character) all buffed and decked out, started swinging and died in about three seconds. Reloaded, died. Over and over. For like 1 month in real life. I put the game away for awhile. (I don't adjust the difficulty.) One month! :banghead:

I really haven't had too many Oh crap moments but Fighting Umbra the 1st time wasn't fun. I didn't die but I had to lower the difficulty to beat her.

My most recent one happened a couple days ago. I was doing the quest for the Dark Brotherhood and I had to kill Ungolim and after I killed him I accidently hit Lucian and it basically froze after he was knocked out by the Bravil guard, I was (Censored) because I lost about half an hour of data. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh man, don't you hate that? Realizing your last Autosave was hours ago? I did that a couple times last night, ugh.

Trying to get the divine paladin's equipment with OOO installed. Took me more than 2 hours to get to the boos room. Even worse, a particular boss was waiting for me with a couple of golden werewolves and apprentices of the boss. My companions were good fodder, until they were all down. It was taxing, but when all the werewolves and apprentices were down, he was trapped. Still, he'd put up a good fight, and I've created a memorial in my flooded underground cavern under my castle where one of his servants was killed.

I almost lost my new Redguard warrrior last night. Got attacked by a Conjurer outside of Sardavar Leed, and chased the Conjurer off the cliff by the Ayleid Well. Oops. Conjurer died, and my character survived by a tiny little bit of that red line.

I was in a cave, I don't remember where, when I saw an ogre. I had less than 20 health, no potions, no magicka, and the atronach birthsign. I pulled out my only weapon, a bow, poisoned my last arrow, and managed to kill it. As I apporoached it in hopes of finding my arrow, 2 more ogres saw me. The arrow wasn't there either. 3 guesses what happened.

I was fighting Reavers, got disarmed, had a Hand to Hand skill of 5, there were 20 or so Reavers in the area of the Oblivion gate I was in, my weapon glitched through the floor. Needless to say, I was screwed.

Yeah, I died the very first time I ever met an ogre. The event went like this:

*just levelled, runs outside to see what new beasts are there*
*Oh look! What's that big thing?*
*goes to investigate*
*SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Yesterday I loaded my Oblivion save on PC and found that I had no items and then I got killed I then saw 20 umbras sheath their swords. Yeah my cousin thought this would be a funny thing to do.
