Do your enemies ever hurtkill each other?

Post » Wed Dec 25, 2013 5:35 pm

A typical encounter with bandits will involve a melee fighter or two and an enemy archer. I try to keep the melee fighter between myself and the enemy archer, hoping that the archer will either: have to stop shooting at me for fear of hitting his friend, or take risky shots and possibly hit his buddy in the back

However, the archer will usually shoot at me when he gets even the tiniest window, and I don't think I've had an encounter where he's actually killed his buddy. This makes me feel kind of bad, because when I take dangerous shots like this in combat, my friends often wind up with one of my own arrows in their back

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has ever seen bad guys take each other out due to accidents in combat.

Not from the same group, but I have seen enemies fighting each other, and not the wizard battles either.

I've had bandits push each other off cliffs trying to get a good angle to shoot me.

Other than that, I've had thalmor fighting bandits.

In strict game-play mechanics terms? Allies cannot harm their allies. You can easily see this when fighting mages who use AOE spells. Unless you frenzy them, which makes them hostile to each other.

It was different in Oblivion however. In Oblivion, I've had archers kill their allies, and conjurers blow-up the other conjurer near him.

I saw something like that once during the Potema quest in Solitude, the first one. Some of the necromancers in the cave killed each other. I've never understood why as my character was undetected by them.

Yes - because Alonzo makes them do it, he messes with their minds and enjoys it greatly!

According the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Wolfskull_Cave :

Spoiler

Because the necromancers in the ritual area start as neutral, when you get to the final area and can just see the ruins and the swirling blue mists, you can make the draugr kill all the necromancers for you. One or two arrows arced high over the heads of the necromancers to set them looking for enemies, then another arced high over the head of the draugr on the right of the tower to set him to hunting for enemies. They all call their friends, and shortly, the deed is done.

Addressed by USKP v1.2.1 :

- The necromancers for "The Man Who Cried Wolf" are not friendly toward the generic necromancers or draugr that are in the dungeon with them. (Bug #1455)

I do not need a fix. I think it's not that unusual that bandits or else kill each other for whatever reason.

Alonzo doesn't either, except the reason is always the same with him - he made them do it.

A few days ago, I saw two bandits fighting each other. I thought it was odd, and figured a mage was nearby. No mage, but they were definitely fighting each other. Once one went down, the other turned his attention on us.

Poor fella. Didn't stand a chance.
