In your experience, how solo firendly do you deem ESO to be?

I have tried out the weekend beta for ESO. I must say that the scenery is outstanding. I seriously considering getting the pre-orders to get back into the game.

I tried out as Templar and just reached level 10 by the end of the beta. During the beta, I noticed that some of the quests in 2nd zone are much harder and require more than single player to tackle the mobs, especially those (after a series of quests, at the end of a questchain) that require you to go down into the catatombs or dungeons to save someone or kill a specific mob.(not 4-party dungeons like Banishing Cells quest) They remain unfinished as I am unable to get a few more people interested into doing the quests.

As I am someone who like to pick flowers, admire the trees, climbing to the top of the mountains, basically just goofing off in-between quests and slowly take my time to level, I afraid that I will be stuck in a lower zone with less people and unable to complete these quests. Also new players who decided to join ESO 2 -3 months or later further down the roads might also have a harder time finding party to do these quests.

So I ask you guys, how solo friendly do you find ESO to be.

Grouping is pretty much discouraged for open world content. Game is very solo friendly. Just don't try to solo areas on the map marked with a skull&swords icon, those are areas with elite mobs requiring 3 or more.

I found the boss mobs which almost always seemed to be at the end of a quest were all overtuned. Only reason people are getting some of the quests done is because we're all piling in at the same time (the quests in open world or those open dungeons that is). They need to make game more solo-friendly imo, because once people leave the start zones new players battling alone with no other guys around will have a hard time with those quests.

Up to level 50 standard line of questing should be soloable or almost soloable (need to group temporary for stronger bosses).

End game needs complete switch to raiding.

Solo Friendly until i got to Norian (Level 8 quest) then i got wasted over and over.

I must admit though the servers were acting up again, latency on skills, random teleporting, server disconnections etc so it may not have just been me,

I found the game to be very solo friendly.

With the exception of a few known group mobs, everything is easily done solo.

The known group mobs: Dark Anchors, and there are certain maplocations with a skull and bones. You do not want to do those locations alone.
Also the (first) group dungeon(s) (for Daggerfall in Glenumbra) requires a team, but you don't have to be in one, just tag along with other players

I like more challenging content. I mean, I'm almost always with my boyfriend and others, so things die so fast it's not even fun.

I would like the way public dungeons are set to be on normal mobs myself: the more people smacking the thing down the harder it is to kill.

Very. Overly friendly IMHO in that phasing is a real obstacle to couples playing together.

Yea - that quest was hard. It looked to me that Interrupt was not working on the guy. At least my Poison Arrow wasn't (nor the melee one - his casting did not seem interruptible) so I could not stop the spawns. The Queen being as much use as a chocolate fire guard didn't help. I had to abandon it and come back later.

The first attempt i nearly killed him with my Nightblade, but then the Servers went to hell just before they came down and yes the queen was beyond useless apart from keeping him busy for a few seconds lol

I pretty much soloed all the way to 16. Most of the bosses i killed solo as well. With no heals except for potions. I would say pretty solo friendly.

Too solo friendly. Honestly as a Templar you can solo almost anything, including the Dark Anchors, all the caves, and all the World Bosses (skull and bones) until a very high level.

Same, played solo pretty much right the way through. I only got up to level 9 on account of taking my time with quests as I was to busy checking out the scenery, but found myself able to do pretty much all the quests solo, strong bow skills helped to pick off targets from a distance.

It need to be solo friendly - there're so many single players who will play this game. (milions)

That is very accurate for most MMOs.

Pretty good for solo play, the boss mobs are just the right difficulty for a challenge, whilst standard mobs are simple enough if you can use your brain, if you want to play solo you can do that.

Grouping up is pretty fun as well.

I could think of 2 scenario which I tried to solo.

One of them was Recusing Maerric quest. The quest requires you to kill Daisu, which was a four arm, snake person, which can stun, threw balls to heal itself, and a 3 direction linear aoe attack. Playing for a while, using Los, dodging and roll, dps and heal when needed, I could not bring the mob down. It had > 90 % hp while I have full health, half magicka and a lot less stamina. After 5 mins alone with it, I feel its pointless and let it kill me.

Another was Veiled Keep quest, just entered the catatomb, stealthed around and see that and the end of a corridor there were 2 guards. so I threw a spell on one, and to my surprise 7 guards total jumped on me. Kill one and died. I rinsed and repeat the clear the last guard at the end of corridor, now 6 guards jumped on me. Once corridor clear, I stealth to the end and reach a large rectangular chamber, 2 guards post on each gate at north west/north east side of the chamber. The last guard was in a room to my immediate left. As the distance was great in the chamber, I wonder were all the guards chain-pull.

Let me know what do you think.

I soloed with a nightblade to lvl 14. Doshia wiped the floor with me, so I had to rethink and come back later, but other than that it wasn't too hard.

Doshia was indeed troublesome, but once you figure her out, she's quite simple to beat.

Depends on your skill and level. I never had a hard time-- no wait, i did. I just retreated and trained harder.

The Veiled keep at the end was a problem for me, esp the two elites, i was a nightblade ranger so probably didn't help me out at all, but other then that i had no issues.

I appreciate for having the opportunity to play ESO Online Beta this past weekend, Thank you very much. In saying that I would have to say...., I was a little disappointed. Sometimes going Big like that for MMO can ruin an intiment experience, which is what ESO had offered in the past. WIth technology these days I don't see why a massive game couldn't be made that would allow the player to play their style of game. I don't like a lot of people running around on my screen attacking creatures im fighting. I like quiet methodical stealth, creeping around building me stealth up to 100 with the bow lingering in the shadows and sniping, then when odds are even bust out with blades and finish the job. IDK, if the game is anything like the BETA, I don't think im gonna be a big fan. It will be a way to pass the time, but that's not saying a lot for what you would expect from Elder Scrolls.

Most solo kind mmo I have seen, with a bix mix for group play some monsters are simply to hard ,but there is no must to go there either.

Soloed up until level 10, when a bug in my main quest line prevented me from continuing. Some bosses required concentration (IMHO the hardest one was the Bloodthorn leader during the Ogre quests) but were not impossible.

Standing in the same place, with any of the fights, gets you killed. Even if there is no apparent danger where you are standing, continual movement keeps you focused.

Specifically in fights like this. Keep mobile. You can kite those mobs until kingdom come and focus the boss if you keep moving (and dodging). One of the biggest mistakes you can make is treating an action MMO like WoW - which is why immobilize/stun abilities are usually the main victims of "this ability is OP" player complaints in MMOs like this. I wasn't able to interrupt/block due to my ping distance from the US servers, so I may have non-intuitively learn't how to play without it (which is a bad thing in the long-run :( ).

Also pay attention to the level requirement of the quests - it's strange that the game encourages you to do high level quests on your main quest line. Accept the quest but don't enter it until you have checked its level requirement in your journal. Typically you should be able to do quests 3-4 levels above you if you are a veteran (and face it, one weekend of access means that none of us are veterans); 1 level above if you have a basic understanding of the combat system.

Some stuff is entirely designed for groups, although some players are skilled enough in games like this to solo them. Some aren't (like me). Soloing content designed for groups takes extreme skill, a perfect build plus a little luck. That's the nature of an MMO. It is designed for multiplayer; so if you want to go against the grain of the spirit of the game some content will always be out of your reach.
