Recognizing the stone shield and the spiked wall for what they are...

... Only to wonder about the jug hanging from the ceiling a few rooms ahead, then taking a swing at it to see what's inside.

hahahaha

i did this too, not the stone shield and spiked wall part
but damn did i make a mistake.

Remembering the quote about '''how not all creatures will instantly attack you''' and the footage of somebody walking past mammoths and giants I trotted my horse right up to the first giant I saw in the game, a single club swing sent my horsey flying off screen while i lay dead...

further, i had spent a good hour just exploring between saves so I lost everything.

Sell an item to a merchant, only to go back one day later and buy it back, hehe.

Being level 5 and trying to talk to a Giant. My camera instantly went into execution mode and I got a 3rd person view of the Giant spartan kicking me in the chest.

The other one is when you're doing the quest to get that Gualdur amulet and you have to fight the brother who makes mirror images of himself.. and the images all have a high enough Unrelenting Force to send you rag dolling throughout the room. Then when you think its over, you have to fight him again :P

Fast-traveling back home to Whiterun, spending twenty minutes buying, selling, and smithing up to level 53...and then realizing I left my dog somewhere out there and having NO idea where. Reload.

After going through a massive fight with two dragons (And nearly dying several times in the process), I looted them and happily made my way down the side of the mountain. I decided to look up into the air and give off a nice, "Fus Ro Dah!" in celebration, but forgot my hotkey had it set to Whirlwind Sprint. I got to watch myself plummet into the air and drop to the town below. Once my demise was over, the game reloaded me directly before the fight - when I had saved before taking on the massive beasts.

HAHA! I always fear the chicken! Mine was a dragon fight, the first one I think, I was in the tower shooting it with my bow from a hole in the tower wall, dragon was down to a sliver of health and I kept edging into the hole to see it, suddenly I was falling...to my death. After I hit the ground the guards finish off the dragon.

How about...

While giving my new steel sword a few test swings, I accidentally whacked Alvor which resulted in all of Riverwood (and Alvor) trying to kill me.

They succeded. =(

Oh, and trying to fight giants with my magics even though I am not a magic-user.

Moments before this, I easily slain a bear. So when I encountered another one, I thought it was no problem. I still don't know how I managed to get killed by it. Even Lydia didn't help me...

Using Unrelenting force on a dragon in Riverwood and accidentally hitting some guards with it. Needless to say, I spawned in Windhelm.

Most epic fail so far was pwning a cave full of bandits, and then marching up to the token 'bandit thug' who kill moved my ass with his steel greatsword.

I was up in the air like a rag doll and then on the floor with my legs all twisted.

Humbling.

After being obliterated by a frost troll, some bears and a giant (all separate incindents) I found an ice cave with a little black earwig looking bug in it. Aha, something I should be able to handle... 4 or 5 attempts to defeat the little thing later, I leave the cave with my shoulders slumped.

Level 3 Mage starting the "hit the books" quest. I see on my mini map the dragon icon and think "cool! I can find another word real quick". I walk over to the wall, no dragon and think I'm about to get the easiest word the game allows! Then the chest pops open, priest comes out and summons a big ol' frost dude and I'm dead before I get my second spell off.

I found a nice cave with a Word Wall basically right within the entrance.. ran right up to it without even glancing around... turns out there was a trap floor that opened and dropped me into a cage being guarded by a necromancer. That would be fine, because I escaped and even got some nice loot along the way, but after getting back up to the top I immediately saw the Word Wall again and... fell back through the trap hole while trying to do an epic slow-motion walk. :sadvaultboy: Short-term memory fail.

Have any of you guys had a completely "why the hell did I do that?" moment in skyrim.

Mine was killing a chicken... I praised the nine divines that I had saved beforehand.

I found Hidden Knife Cave, (the one with all the gored and maimed bodies mounted on pikes)

Me: "Well, this is a pretty brutal sight to see, I"ll just be taking my leave then, can't have those Greybeards waiting forever"

Bandit: *sneak attacks me, I die instantly despite having full health*

that was the first time I learned that enemies are just as capable of using finishers as you are. no doubt they gored, maimed and mounted my body on a pike as well :P
What's more, I didn't save :( I had to walk all the way back to Ivarstead from Winterrun again.

save early and often folks, it's not just for Point and Click games.

oh, and Lydia can die, I learned that while bragging about my magical prowess with some orc bandits. :(
