Your Favorite Brews

Post » Sat May 09, 2015 4:49 am

Hi, everyone. So I went to a nice gastropub in the city the other day which had some really great craft beers, in fact, that's all they had. I got this Belgium import called societe debutante, which was some kind of ale, tasted amazing, caramely flavor, full-bodied, with a nutty after finish.

I also had some amazing olives and bread there, apparently all the food there is on point. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of craft and local brews, which we have a lot of here. I think the largest concentration in the United States, but I could be wrong. IPAs are huge here, and I must say I'm a huge fan, especially the Racer 5 and Sierra Nevada Torpedos. Super amazing.

Anyway, let me know what your favs are.

Speaking of IPAs, I've had the Dogfish Head 60 minute. I like that one for after work comfort when you just don't want wine.

I've had River Horse Triple Horse too. I like that one too.

I haven't tried those, I'll have to check them. Are they from Cali?

I think they're East Coast beers. River Horse is New Jersey.

I looked up Racer 5, and I'm interested because it's highly rated. There's a couple of taps in NYC, though not sure if I want to go there for an $8.00 pint(?).

It's funny as nearly everyone I know who likes beer prefers IPA but I don't like the overly bitter/hoppy brews so I'm a lager man. I rarely drink anymore but Brooklyn Lager is decent in both taste and price.

Dogfish Head ia from Delaware.

I lovd microbrews but my absolutr favorite is local from Downingtown, PA. The brand is Victory Brewing, my favorite of theirs is Golden Monkey. Iirc, it is a Belgium-style Tripel.

I'm not really a huge fan of beer in general, but I have managed to find a few that I do enjoy. My current favorites are Blue Moon, Bourgogne Des Flandres (delicious, found it on tap in a local Yard House), and Guinness. I've tried a lot of different beers, but most of them generally come off as overly bitter to me. From everything I've tried, it seems I tend to like Belgium beers better than anything else.

The famous Brazilian Caipirinha. One of the few clichés that are 100% true. You start drinking it, you don't feel the alcohol and it is quite delicious, one hour later you're telling all your life to a street dog.

I normally like dark beers, and occasionally something lighter like an IPA. So I'm currently enjoying Tesco's own brand dark IPA, which works for me.

It's one of my go-to beers, very fine IPA. I highly recommend it if you can find it out there.
