Your Favorite Companion And Why?

Post » Tue Aug 10, 2010 1:28 pm

Does anyone actually "like" Boone? All I see is everyone liking him because he kills stuff. If you're having trouble playing you can just lower the difficulty, no need to recruit someone to fight for you. Same with FO3, a load of people seemed to like Fawkes just because he was immortal. I choose my companions on characters, I don't care how well they can fight.

Seconded. That's exactly the reason I DON'T like Boone. I prefer to do my own dirty work. :chaos:

Like I said, I love the whole vengeful stoic thing going on with Boone. Man of very few words - which makes I Forgot to Remember to Forget where he starts to open up that much sweeter.

Cass has been my favorite so far, she rocks. Of course that means I have little to compare it to since I can't bring myself to part with her for another companion. :D

Cass because I like drinking Whiskey without any side effects. I wish I could do the same in real life as well.

I don't get why that many people are put of by Boone's attitude. There's a reason for his behavior and once you unlock his quest and get his story it's actually quite good.

Not sure why people call Rex weak either. Atleast in my game he's knock enemies down constantly and chewing them to death. Really killing alot of the harder stuff around. And i'm on very hard.

Ed-E is my favorite. Doesn't talk much, plays funny little tunes, and doesn't sleep in my bed when I leave him back at my suite (I swear I'm going to shoot Veronica the next time I see her doing that).
My favorite companion team is Boone and Ed-E. I play a long-range gunner type, and pretty much exclusively use my All-American. Ed-E extends my perception so that I can detect enemies from what seems like eighty miles away, and Boone makes them glow pink so I can spot them easily. I haven't tried a close combat build yet, but since the Chainsaw seems to break so quickly, I'm thinking Raul and Rex (on passive, with Rey's brain in there).

Veronica with a ballistic fist is amazing, also she has some funny lines, lily wins second just cause her lines are funny and she has a virtabird blade for a sword, that i want, rex is way cooler than ed-e, he reminds me of my dog...with less skin and more metal lol

Probably Veronica, mainly because she is the only companion that made me slightly smile once, when I gave her a fancy dress.

Ditto. i liked fawkes because he was a good super mutant. not because of his gatling laser. that's why i like rex, because he is like a pet, but he is optimized for the wasteland.

I've been going through the Mohave with Cass and Ed-E. ED-E is like a floating R2-D2, and Cass has never let me down in combat, or the amusing things she has to say (after gunning down a death-claw "that was a waste of ammo")

Frankly, I'm surprised Raul didn't receive more votes. He's a former vaquero, has an awesome passive ability, and is voiced by Danny "Machete" Trejo (!!!).

My choice for favorite companion must seem pretty obvious at this point. Second favorite is Lily - so cute!

I recruited Veronica when i as level 5/6 or so and gave her the BOS T-51b suit i collected and repaired during the first bit of the BOS story arch. She is a blast to travel with and equiped with power armour and that fist of hers she saved my but more than once. Note this is on hardcoe mode, she never seemed to die on me. Boone and Arcade also get regular use in the companion rotation and ED-E is a permemnant follower.

Veronica is a BEAST on non-hardcoe. I think there was a point in the game where she was getting something like ~75% of all my kills for me. You just need to find the 6 dead Brotherhood Paladins with suits of T-51b and hook her up with one of those, and she will destroy everything.

I also recommend getting her a disruptor glove ASAP.

Plus, she's hilarious and voiced by Felicia Day, what's not to like?

Her and Cass are my two favorites, Cass's opening dialogue is PRICELESS. The stuff she says about the NCR and the monument...too good.

For me it's currently Boone. I haven't found any other usable companions other then Veronica and Cass atm but they both svck! I'm an unarmed specialist and figured... hey Cass's DT perk would help... but it doesn't make a lot of difference and her shotgun dmg is weak as hell on hardcoe/Very Hard, so i got her killed and switched back to Boone. Veronica for me is useless since it's hardcoe and if she dies.. she dies forever which is going to happen sooner then later... and making her wait somewhere is useless too cuz then you can't use her crafting perk lol.

Veronica, hands down. Personality, personality, personality. As unarmed you don't need Boone's spotting perk either. True he kills everything at a distance but he has the personality of a gecko. You -can- tell Veronica to quit punching things. I find Ed-E's sensors much more useful than Boone's spotting. ANd after a long day of slaughtering Legionairres I still giggle when Veronica says 'Are you going to make me carry all the heavy stuff?'. Her reaction to being given a dress is classic as well ;)

Cass, you are an alcoholic. You really don't need to emphasize it in every third sentence out of your mouth. This is why I'm considering selling you out to those psychopathic arms dealers.

I thought Boone was great... until I saw how over powered he was.
5 shots for me to kill a Giant Radscorpion.
1 for him. Really?

But I can't go all negative on him. He can take a BoS soldier out in 2 shots, and that saved my ass.

I've only had Boone and ED-E on my first game and I'll probably keep them to the end. They're great.

Boone is just hot in the Reinforced Black Leather Armor and the red beret...and his voice (Jason Marsden) is tortured sixy. I found his story emotional and compelling. Now he's in his 1st Recon Survival Armor. He's saved my rear so many times already.

ED-E's story is interesting too but I wish I had been able to get him the upgraded laser AND the new armor. At least the armor bumper stickers are gone and now he's stronger with the new laser but still a little worn looking. His perk and the music alerts that the enemy is too close helps a lot.

Haven't even been to the Strip yet and I may not go; may save the MQ for a play with Cass or Veronica and Rex. No lack of adventure so far without the Main Quest.

Yes, I find not exploring the main quest can be just as fun (A sign of replayability) I just got into an early 'kill everyone' mode yet still remained karmically very high. I just had to see what would happen -if- I did this huge game altering thing. At first I thought I would be disappointed as there were no big fanfaires. But then... OMG... it paid in spades and I'm talking top of the suit! It royally flushed me into a jackpot of giddiness. Boom boom boom! And the lights stay on ;)

Rex! :) The only way he could be better than he is now would be like... If he were a Pomeranian. Or something. Hey, they're cute.
I also like Boone, but he's so stoic. I bother him so much that I'm half-expecting him to smack me over the head and glare at me with this withering look that says, "You... ANNOYING little girl".
If that ever happened though, I'd probably justify his irritation by whining about his beret again.

I am so annoying.

Spoiler
Only have been "working" with Veronica so far...but she got annoying with her "do i have to take that away from you" sentence. Or walking right in the line of fire...woman got an attitude, bit too agressive in my opinion. She even screwed up a quest i never heard of. This was while i was in Vault 3 to score some tools regarding her quest. All of a sudden "Quest Failed" because she killed one of the raiders over there. Damn i was kinda pissed.

So finished her quests along with the other BoS side quests and left her there, at the hidden valley.

Picked up Cass on my way back, at first to deal with a Van Horn mission...but didn't like the ending of that. So now i'm gonna do her quests instead. Probb. not gonna do any Van Horn missions more because it involes breaking in and stuff
