Your favorite 9 Divine

Akatosh probably. The rest are too underdeveloped in comparison. Save for Arkay, Mara and Talos.

Talos. The history of him is a lot more interesting compared to the other Nine Divines in my opinion.

"That we shall die to put a strong man back on the throne of Tamriel."

Just take a guess.

Ohhhh... I thought we must say a Divine only!

I prefer Deadric Gods... Meridia.

I'm sorry Talos, but you aren't in a very pristine position on my list. You weren't so bad in Morrowind, but when I went to Cyrodiil, being the capitol of Tamriel and a cultural melting pot, I was expecting to see a wide array of temple divisions and sects to each individual Divine, much like with Daggerfall in which the Imperial Pantheon was already the predominant religion - so it naturally diffused and fragmented. With Morrowind I didn't mind the streamlined Imperial Cult because it was a way for missionaries to easily and collectively work together to spread their doctrine into the most conservative and traditionalist province in Tamriel.

When I arrived in Cyrodiil instead, nowhere did I find the dozens of Dibella cults I read about in the PGE, nor even any practical application of the Divines' temples to begin with. Julianos had endless libraries of knowledge, potion makers, and the like in Daggerfall; Dibella had practitioners of erotic instruction, Stendarr's temples were to be filled with almoners and donation funds to aid the less fortunate in alignment with the God of Mercy's sphere of influence.

Oh, no no no. All the prayers in Oblivion went to Akatosh or Talos - completely and utterly eclipsing the other Divines in Cyrodiil and what little shred of hope they had left for having their factions explored. Talos also turned Cyrodiil into a temperate forest. My vote would go to Julianos.

EDIT: I don't want to point fingers, but I'm curious as to whether there's any noticeable differential in Talos-favoriters among Morrowind players and Talos-favoriters among Oblivion. The Divines certainly have radically different levels of prominence in each.

Kynareth.

Why? Cool name.

Talos is... eh, he's okay I guess.

Dibella and Mara are lame names, and their 'domains' are confusing and rather typical - love goddess and fertility goddess. *yawn* boring.

Akatosh is pretty cool, I guess, but he's so overhyped in TESIV.

Arkay is annoying because I confuse his name with Akatosh.

I don't like Stendarr because of that extra 'r'. And it's always some male delivering justice, isn't it. :stare: Mr. Lawful, feh.

Zenithar is okay, and Julianos isn't that bad.

But Kynareth wins 'cause of the name and more obvious connection to Nirn itself (Wind, rain, sky) as opposed to its Mannish peoples (like Mr. Merchant, Mr. Lawful, Ms. Fertility, Ms. Eroticism, and Mr. Justice).

Dibella or Kynareth, depending on whether I'm into the arts or into nature at the time.

Talos is a Hjalti-come-lately.

I am human, so my first allegiance will always go to Lorkhan. But for the purpose of this vote I have to go with Kynareth because she was the first to see merit in Lorkhan's plan.

Never been much a Divines guy, but Julianos and Kynareth get my vote.

It's close to a tie between Julianos and Akatosh. I like Akatosh, absolutely adore the dragon avatar, but Julianos is the god of wisdom, and I mostly play mage-related characters, so... yeah, Julianos.

Poop! using asteriks in considered evasion? didn't know that. Anyways,

Eh...no...That was Queen Alessia, no relation to Tiber Septim, that had crazy sixual relations with talking bulls. Also, it was Pelinal that was a crazy elf terminator, and both were very first age figures, not late 2nd era/early third era. Go reread your history and get the facts straight. However, you are right in that he is Tiber, Zurin, and Wulfhart.

I never said that Morhius ever [censored] Pelinal, but I'm saying that since Mor Bull wrote a really [censored] long poem grieving his death, Shezzar must have gotten Mor Bull some [censored]. Pelinal was a Shezzarine – Shezzar being the Cyrodillic combination of Shor and Lorkhan – and I was refering to that entity, the "soul of Padomay" as being Talos before Tiber Septim. I don't understand what made you think I meant anything about the third or second Era. I have read my history and have my facts straight, at lest in this instance. thanks for the concern.

I only like him, because he's the closest thing to Shezzar

First off, you are doing a disservice to Shor by calling him in the elvish tongue. Also, Talos is the closest divine to Shezzar, the watered down version of Shor of Cyrodiilic myth.

And never did I imply that Pelinal did such an act, or tell him to go at it with Alessia. Morhius and Pelinal were close kin, referring to each other in family terms. So when Pelinal died, like the Greeks of old when a comrade died, Morhius grieved heavily and wrote an epic about it. And I know all about Shezzarine, Shor, Shezzar, so don't assume I don't, especially since I praise Shor as much as I can, outside of Khorne and Nurgle. Also, I said it was incorrect to say Pelinal = Talos

I actually performed a disservice to Sep not Shor by calling him in the elvish tongue, but your point is well taken. I thought it appropriate for the nature of this poll.

Why not? Pelinal WAS a shezzarine, right?

In the Song of Pelinal, it's left to interpretation.
It is a solid truth that Morihaus was the son of Kyne, but whether or not Pelinal was indeed the Shezarrine is best left unsaid

However, it is widely known he is a mythic echo of Shor and Akatosh.

Also, in that same volume, he tells Morihaus to not get jiggy with Alessia

My favorite is Dibella because she's the Goddess of Beauty and Art. My second choice would be Stendarr because he's the God of Mercy.

Zenithar or Stendarr. I believe peace is earned through hard work, such as the teachings of Zenithar, but I also think Stendarr's mercy aspect fits in that nicely. I couldn't pick from the two, but I voted Zenithar.

...and his bull nephew.
How could a normal mortal be a brother of Kynereth? However, Shor could be considered so (Aedra are formed of both Padomay and Anu, with the exception of Akatosh and Shor)

And I know that you know all about Shor and the divines ? you are much better at your lore than me.

Akatosh: he embodies the qualities of endurance, invincibility, and everlasting legitimacy.

He's an invincible Dragon?

'Nuff said. :P

For being worshipped in TES games, they are poorly defined.

Much agreed. But if I had to choose one whose established sphere I enjoy most, it would be Julianos. The scholar, the Warden of the Written Word, the Count of the Cacophony of Conversation, and the Lord of the Law.
