The Backwater Rifle. Hands down! I just loaded my oldest save (level 24), where I had the rifle. I went to The Pitt and made myself 6000 10mm rounds. Fun, fun, FUN! And pwnage to anything! Except Overlords...

I really like the Railway rifle, the Xuanlong Assault Rifle, the Fisto, the Shishkabob, and the Gatling Laser. Probably the Railway rifle is my favorite. You gotta love the impaled heads on the wall.

As you've asked for our favourite weapon (as opposed to 'best'), I'm gonna go with Sydney's 10mm "ultra" SMG.

It's light, compact, easy to maintain, good access to ammo, and if you get the Superior Defender perk from Point Lookout this baby becomes an essential piece of kit doin 90 dmg/sec. I always have one with me anyway. I love them. :mohawk:

Well it depends, Gauss Rifle for long range sneak attacks, Novasurge for quick short range vaporization, and the Samuri's sword, to surprise that sniper once I'm right behind him. The Gauss rifle overall, though.

Bottlecap mines 4 me. Even weaken or kill overlords pretty quickly. But for groups of enemies, providing there is enough space, the Fatman is it.

I just started playing but the weapons of my choice are the hunting rifle and baseball bat. The hunting Rifle is a good shot at long range and I like to sneak around for that nice sniping spot. I like the baseball bat becuase it swings quickly and has some stopping power into it.

A3-21 Plasma rifle, all the way. I like Lincoln's repeater, the Xuanlong rifle, the Fisto, and the Shishkebab. But nothing beats the power of PLASMA!!

Good old hunting rifle.

Plenty of ammo, plenty of repair parts, fair damage and accuracy.

Suits me.

Combat Knife, silenced 10mm, gauss rifle, laser pistol. Frag grenades when my enemies won't follow my instructions for placement.

Non-vanilla, it changes dramatically, however. m72 and ppk12 backed up by the combat knife.

Why does combat knife never leave my lineup? Because I was able to gut a supermutant overlord with one before he could do signifigant damage to me. It hurts, it doesn't wear down as quickly as most weapons seem to, and it's FAST.

Truth be told, there are so many weapons and so many adversaries, you can't really get by that well with only one. I like having a Fatman handy for behemoths and ant queens, and a few bottlecap mines for giant radscorpions. And the ants in Those reaspond really well to frag mines: they run over one, it detonates, and your ant becomes an ant-killing machine. Plus, a powerful "unlimited use" weapon like the shishkebab or fisto, for those foes you don't want to waste ammo for your primary weapon on. I did that with Lincoln's repeater and wound up running out of .44, which svcked. I had to finish the game with another weapon.

I love the Blackhawk from Agatha. It makes short work of the super mutants and with my set up, (perks Gunslinger, Sniper, Nightperson) there is nothing like slapping a super mutant's melon around at range.

Favourite small gun is The Terrible Shotgun - I love the brutal power of a one shot blast to the face. The glorious slo-mo replay of this in VATS never grows old. :)
