Your favourite town/hold/city..

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:08 pm

I've now clocked up 65 hours in the vast province of Skyrim and I've only visited 3 of the main towns (Whiterun, Solitude and Markarth) my preferred favourite out of those is Whiterun because of it's openess and vast expanse of tundra, which imo is great for hunting wild Elk and finding a multitude of flowers and so forth.

So, I'm wondering what other people consider to be thier favourite towns etc ? And why? Explain why you like these places over the other holds.

Riften. It's small and compact, gives me access to the two factions that suit my Khajiit the most, has a multitude of traders literally ten seconds from the house, and has my favorite house in the game. :)

Whiterun. I like Breezehome, it's cozy, and the fire feels nice. Got my 3 wifes in the house, Sylgja, Lydia, and Mjoll, good times.

Whiterun for its central location, smiths, vendors and hunting grounds.

White run, although I wish it had more of a city district sometimes... I do like the feel as a town, its centralized and everything you need but an enchanting table is close on hand... and even that is just up with the wizard.

Markarth is the most creative looking city in the game, for me. Which is why I love it. It also has an excellent storyline.

It used to be Solitude, which i still think is awesome, but now it's Whiterun. Something about seeing it from a distance, towering about the surrounding plains. It's really well done.

Solitude. Now that is a CITY.

Markarth is somewhat a city, more a fort to be honest.

Whitehold is a tiny city.

The rest are just towns encased by walls in some cases. But of those, Whiterun is the best.

Solitude for me.

I like Falkreath for its somewhat more rustic feel. Also, I favor forest environments.

I honestly can't say. I can tell you that I dont like Winterhold, but other than that...well, I kinda like falkreath, mainly because it's kinda like a bigger Riverwood, and because the Jarl is freaking awesome. Not in the traditional sense, though, she's just very...um...aware.

I do like Solitude though, mostly because I really haven't been there nearly as much as i've been in Whiterun. I hate markarth and riften because of all the crime and robbery and corruption that takes place there, and it only gets worse as the main quest procedes along.

Riften. I like the gangways and how everything is tied to the docks. I just wish there was a questline to wipe out the bad guys.

I like the Reach hold in general...
Cuz forsworn are fun to fight against...
And also, it leads to the plains of the Whiterun hold.
For a living-sake, Whiterun hands-down.
Never feel like home other than in Whiterun.

I always find myself going back to Whiterun. I seem to get in less trouble there, my home is there ( I only own Breezehome) and I can easily sell my stuff. Plus, the War Maiden is a babe. Grizzly, but a babe.

Whiterun looks nice and it's a strategic point to use as your base giving you access to all the surrounding areas.

Whiterun, due to familiarity by this point, and Markarth because it has alot of interesting quests, along with plenty of Forsworn (or Forsorelosers, as I like to call them) to batlle in countryside.

Markarth is my favorite city and the place my character now calls home. :)

I like it best at night. Such a gorgeous city at night with the northern lights above and the waterfalls, and fog in the mountains and all the buildings lit up with firelight. Definitely the most exotic feeling city, it kinda reminds me of ancient Rome or something.

Whiterun/Solitude, Whiterun for its central position and nice look, (I would love to see Falkreath, it's one of the two cities I haven't yet been to, (Falkreath and Dawnstar) and I'm 60 hours in the game, feels like I still got a massive load to do  ) and Solitude for its awesome house and big-ass city look, to me it feels like the only real "city" I've yet seen, it's big and the first time I visited it... I got lost within seconds... (Though I tend to get lost in the Gray Quarter or Windhelm too  )

Whiterun. Love Adrienne the blacksmith. Plus i haven't gone anywhere else. Stayed in Whiterun for a good while, did some quests, robbed them blind. Now moving on to Riften.
