Your First Character! -Poll Edition-

Post » Sun Mar 27, 2011 12:18 pm

Not sure which race. I am very excited to see how argonians turn out. Or else I'll just take an imperial or a nord because they look human :frog:

Focus on exploration, doing quests at my own pace.

Archetype probably stealth, maybe stealth/combat.

Neutral... :cake:

Male. I feel no need to play dress up :celebrate:

pointless thread is pointless...

Most people (Including me) wont be able to answer any of these questions until the game is in our hands

Obviously not, considering the 9 pages, detailed dseccriptions, 700 votes, and the thread going from March through today.....

Just because you don't have anything to say doesn't mean you need to be a spoilsport.

It's good reading for the variety of playstyles, if you don't actually have your own plans to add.

Simple thread. Interesting to see the results though. I want to cover as many areas of your first character as the polls with allow to get a feel for how people play a new Elder Scrolls game for the first time.

My picks:

Race - Breton

Focus - Completing Every Quest Line or a Mix of the Main Quest Line and some Faction Quest Lines

Archetype - Mix: Stealth/Magic

Naughty or Nice - Mostly Nice, but with a Bad Side!

Gender - Male

Also, don't be afraid to tell us why you are going to play the way you are. Tradition? Experimenting? Just cause you can?

Hey, I like this thread a lot! :goodjob:

My picks:

Race - Nord (unless the beast races look amazing).

Focus - Exploring the World. I'll be too enamoured with the landscape to do anything else for a few hours (which is probably about as long as my first character will last).

Archetype - Pure Combat if I'm a Nord, Mix: Combat/Stealth if I'm a Khajiit, and Mix: Combat/Magic if I'm an Argonian.

Naughty or Nice - Neutral! I'm my own man/cat/lizard! :ermm:

Gender - Male as usual. It's really hard to make a decent looking female character for me in any videogame and I cannot bare to use an ugly one.

My first char (as I see it now, things can change :hehe: ) is an Argonian male, young and rebel, using a spear big two handed weapon to drive the empire out of the land. The focus is on travelling and exploring and killing whoever happens to oppose or dislike him. He won't join all the guilds, he will focus on the politics plot and will choose carefully who deserves his help and for what reasons. The fighting style will be combat/stealth with big weapons but medium/light armor for mobility. He'll be mostly evil and will favor the beast races when it comes to big decisions within quests.

What the ... ??? Why do so many people here vote for "Nord" ?

My first character will probably again be a female Breton. They look best. Over time, she will turn into a master of everything. I dont think there will be much of a focus.

And I will play for 2 months. I never managed to play any TES game longer than 2 months, after that I'm simply too bored to continue.

I used to love Nords... they were my favorite class...

Recently... I have been enthralled by the history and culture of the Altmer... so I plan on making an Altmer character.... as much as a battlemage as can be made with the new system.

Because it's Skyrim? And because people like that race?

Why do all your Bretons look like supermodels?

Wauw i am amazed by the fact how many people have chosen the Nords as a character. Do think it has to do where the game is taking place?

I've always been a Nord as my first & main character so this one will def' be a Nord considering the setting & plot.

Race: Nord
Gender: male
Name: Arran
Focus: as it comes. a bit of everything.

Archetype: In Oblivion I concentrated on Endurance (Heavy Armor, Block & Armorer), Willpower (Destruction, Restoration & Alteration) & Strength (Blade) which worked very well. Not sure about the character creation on Skyrim but I'm guessing I'll go something the same.

Endurance as it makes him rock hard. Destruction gives ranged attacks, restoration gives the ability to health himself & alteration gives the ability to pick locks without wasting points leveling up on agility based skills. Alteration also allows you to carry more on dungeon raids and gives protection from magic attacks. Restoration also allows you to fortify yourself.

I've finally come up witha name for my Nord warrior. Askold the Red.

Pure combat, honour bound, and not very cautious. Just like a Nord should be! :foodndrink:

Male Dumner named Tusas who will be a combo of Combat and Stealth. He will start the main quest and then trail off and never finish. He will be nice and have a bad side.

Ever since Morrowind my first character in TES games has been a Nord warrior, I know that with TES:V taking place in Skyrim this is going to seem very cliche.... but I'm keeping with tradition.

Thaldren is a barbaric Nord. He may be a hero to some, but in reality he just likes fighting and cares little for the greater good. Most of those he kills just happen to be "evil".

Nords FTW!

I sort of fo something similar, but I always play as a character native to that province. MW I was a Dunmer, OB I was a Imperial, and so my first character in Skyrim will be a Nord.

Undecided between an almost-purely-stealth Khajiit (my past favorite char type) and an illusion-heavy stealth&magic Breton monk type (a more technically challenging character with a lot of roleplay value). I won't be certain of my choice until I can see some character models for the revamped races, or maybe even until I get hands-on time with the customization system. Definitely male, definitely a good guy at heart with a propensity for theft and/or deception, and a bit of a ladies' man. I will do a ton of quests (likely only leaving out Assassin's Guild or equivalent) and even more exploration, aiming for something close to game completion. I will happily spend hundreds of hours on a single character.

I honestly think this poll got me more excited for Skyrim than any other thread I've read so far... Nice one! I just feel like sitting and writing down EVERY detail of what I want my first character to be... Maybe even my second!

I chose Nord because I'm interested to see how my character will be tolerated/untolerated by others due to the complete Nord civil war going on. Plus I like Nords because they're big and resistant to frost, and the only race I can see taking down a dragon. I mean come on. How could a Wood Elf Possibly do that?

Male(volent) Imperial, but raised Nord-style. Has an uncanny knack for swords. Sounds all to familiar... 'cept for the Nord part. Pure combat, but prefers agility over strength, though maybe I'm biased. I'll likely complete the main quest first, seeing as how it's either slap a dragon-god in the face or kill rats for a cheese maker. But maybe if I was paid in cheese... Anyway, mainly good, for now. Often loses train of thought (why do they call it a train?), and currently just wanders aimlessly, but once his magic map fills up with the entire world, he'll settle down in a mansion of sorts, but likely will continue wandering, because who wants to be locked in a dusty cage for their entire life? (Says the guy who never goes outside and is on a laptop for hours straight). But yeah, I should stop rambling, though that's what I'm good at... unless I'm doing it deliberately (or am I?). So, yeah. Cyas.
P.S. do people still summon red text? Or is it gray now? SUMMON RED TEXT SUMMON GRAY TEXT

My first character in both Morrowind and Oblivion were Argonians and I am going to continue this by doing it again.
This time I will be a stealth/magic mix, that is mostly bad stealing lots of stuff and not just murdering ppl, but planning out the hits and doing it in style.
As far as guilds and mainquest I'll probably just explore and join the Thieves guild and w/e assassins guild they have. After that I'll probably make a
Breton pure mage or something to beat the majority of the game with.

Race: Imperial

Gender: Male

Focus: Won't really know until I start playing.

Archetype: Combat/Stealth

I honestly Don't think I could play anything as a Mage. I tried it once and just didn't feel right, and I've played some games that really ruined games for me since they seemed like whiny little pains in a poor me state. And most likely a bad character with some good aspects. (The Thieves guild and the Dark Brotherhood were my favorite guilds.)
