Your first gaming all nighter

Post » Sat Jul 24, 2010 10:28 pm

When I first got Pokemon HeartGold I played it an entire day. I started at 8 am and finished at 8 am the next day, the only time I stopped playing it during that day was to use the bathroom and eat. Also I played Oblivion for 42 hours straight a few years ago for a bet.

Early 90's played Zelda til the sun came up on 3 pots of coffe with a buddy of mine. Then I didnt pull another all nighter until Halo combat evolved came out nearly 10 years later. Linking 2 tv's + 3 friends = some very fun memmories.

Good times the 90's were. Wish I could go back.

i dont know if it was my first, but the first i remember was burnout 3. played it for almost 48 hours straight, only got up to use the bathroom, and twice to eat. was at around 90% completion when i finally went to bed. it was funny cause it was the first racing game i had ever bought, cause i dont really like them. i didnt have much in the way of expectations, but the description on the back of the case had me interested. same happened with burnout revenge, though i dont think i was as far along. EVE online has the rest of my all nighters i think. though i do have many many more 2-6am gaming nights with pretty much every game i have ever played.

but then 2am is almost standard for me.

I tried doing an all-nighter this weekend. My parents were away over night so I finally got a chance to play Xbox on the HDTV in the living room.
I only made it to 2:30 AM since I had awoken at 6 AM that day.

Well. I remember about 13 years ago or so I did stay up all night playing a different number of games on the Sega Genesis. Did that with the PS1 as well a couple times, but not any specific game.

I know I played Final Fantasy VIII all day, but I don't think I pulled an all nighter with it. I just can't remember if I pulled an all nighter before the one I actually do remember, I think I did but...it's lost to me. If I did it would have been with Morrowind or Final Fantasy (VIII, X, VII, IX, X-2). The all nighter I actually do remember is Halo 2, beating it on legendary. Took me about 26 hours.

Then I got a computer and it went all downhill from there. Oblivion, NWN, Guild Wars..all games I did all nighters on, especially the last one..probably dozens of all nighters on that one.

I don't think that Zero helicopter mission was worth me and my brother sitting up all night. The sun was rising as we finally blew up the last van and then the nerd wants you to fly that thing back across the city on fumes.

This is going to sound odd, but has anyone played PVKII with 30 people while drunk? Well I did a year ago at a LAN party and we played from 8 in the evening until lunch the next day. :P It was the most fun I've ever had on a LAN and it only ended because someone threw a keyboard across the room. Thankfully his aim was off and no one important got hurt.

When I was 8 I would go to my friends house and we would play N64 games all night long. Pokemon Snap, Ocarina of Time, Donkey Kong 64, Gex 64, Goldeneye....good times.

I've tried, but it just creeps me out. Yet I have no problem staying up on these boards most of the time.

My first was Red Dead Redemption. These came afterwards

Fallout New Vegas (proceeded to play until a little after noon as well)

Black Ops (probably the only time it was fun)

Next is probably L.A. Noire then Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I totally support this notion :foodndrink:

Also, well I've been playing on a PC since I was about 3 years old and my sleep have been crap since about 7 so I couldn't really tell you exactly, it was probably DUNE 2000, or C&C...

I've only done it with STALKER. Started playing at around 2pm I believe, and I stopped at 8am.

Did it twice, once with Civ 2 and once with Diablo 2

I loved every minute and hope to find a game that captures me that way again.

I don't pull real all-nighters all that often as I'm usually useless the next day, but quite often I will stay up until the sun is about to come up and then go to bed, just so I have a few hours of sleep in me. I do it with any game that I am enjoying and getting closer to the end when the story is picking up and I want to see how everything turns out. Most recently when I played through Dragon Age, I stayed up until ~5am the first night, then beat it the second night staying up until ~10am.

And trying to remember my first all-nighter... It would likely be either Goldeneye or Smash Brothers with friends. Playing game after game with self imposed rules changing each time really makes the time fly by. And I was maybe 8 or 9 years old at the time, which really helps.

I've never pulled a gaming all nighter and to be honest it sounds terrible.
