Well, I will be focusing exclusively on maxing out all of my tag skills before I add a single point to another skill, so for a while I will be only Proficient with Guns, Speech, and Repair. Once all of those are 100, I will focus on Survival.

I'm tempted to go explosives and survival or repair, it looks like there will be some better weapons for the explosives skill in NV.
I have no idea what I want my 3rd tag to be, probably a "non-violent" useful skill.

Does anyone know what stat modifies the explosive skill?

I know that it was Perception in Fallout 3, if that helps at all lol.

Anyway I'm going for Guns, Medicince and Repair. SPECIAL = 10, 1, 10, 1, 10, 7, 1 (I'm hoping to compensate for my poor critical chance with massive Damage Threshhold and a Minigun :gun:)

Edit:I'm planning to play with hardcoe on too so this should be interesting. I'm guessing that power armour, a minigun and a backup gun with ammo is going to take up a fair amount of my total carry weight.

I have to thank FreakLore444 for this. Its the first one I actually put something in and it then inspired me afterwards to make up a character sheet based on what information is currently available, which was lots of fun. Of course its not perfect, circumstances may very well dictate different choices.

Guns, Repair, and Speech. While also focusing onto melee (I want that damned cowboy perk) then throwing some points into survival, lock-picking, and medicine. Maybe Barter if I can fit it in.

I think my first play through will be on the lines of .. The green peace hippie hunter build, following the "Help vegas/independent no sides" mode.

I call it..

Freedom Rock (tuuurn it up maaaan)

Special: 4-5-5-5-9-7-5

Traits: Four Eyes (cause I have John Lennon glasses)
Kamakaze (green ninja style)

Tags: Guns
Repair
Science
Survival

Lockpick (whatevers left)

Perks:

Hunter (L2) I either live off the land or kill those infected by it.

Comprehension (L4)

Educated (L4)

Hand Loader (L6) Not to be mistaken with "free loader".

Shotgun Surgeon (L6) When a little close is.. to close

Commando (L8) Rifles and shotguns.. what more do you need.

Scrounger (L8) Bullets.. thats what you need. No bullets = dead hippie

Strong Back (L8) Needed something.. but will need to find +1 Str implant FAST.

Animal Friend (L8) Rank 1. Hunter.. not the hunted.

Math Rath (L10)

Sniper (L10)

Jury Rigging (L14)

TAG! (L16)

Grim Reaper (L20)

Solar Powered (L20)

Obviously I will probably change out a couple things.. I will be playing hard/hardcoe straight away. Jury Rigging though nice seems pretty deep into the levels.. and Strong back highly depends on getting that +1 STR implant.. or just starting with STR 5 to begin with.. (might go that route). I wanted Pack rat but dont want to sink 70 points into Barter. IF however starting points get me close to that 70 Barter mark I may go that route ONLY up to 70 and take pack rat instead. Seems a better perk. Not sure about TAG either. 15 points is nice and all but I should have a good deal strong in what I have already tagged.

At any rate.. THIS will be my first go! Freedom Rock baby! wooo .. lol

gonna be fun.. tuesday is forever from now.

cheers

Probably a stealth oriented character. Plus some perks/skills that assist with hardcoe mode.

I was originally thinking of going Energy Weapons, Survival and Sneak but since there are no silent energy weapons I think Energy Weapons, Survival, and Science with Repair, then Unarmed and Sneak only good enough to get Paralyzing Palm and Silent Running so I have a few points left to throw around on the miscellaneous crap.

Male/Caucasion

Description:
Brown Hair - short to medium, wavy, with sideburns/chops-

6'0", 155 lbs

Background/History:
Worked with his Father: Jack Ramsay as a Caravan Guard, while he wasn't the toughest of the lot he took to computers for an escape to the teasing. The glowing computer screen shortened his sight resulting in reduced perception. Since being in a Caravan meant idle small talk for hours on end and nothing but haggling from on person to the next, he became very fluent with his words. As well as walking great distances, which in-turn heightened his endurance. After his Father: Jack Ramsay died he inherited his Lightweight armor and Trusty shotgun.
On his recent job, he was amushed and shot in the head, being left for dead in an open grave...

My first playthrough my character will be my age old fave.. Leviathan.. a scientist techhead...

tagging energy weapons science and repair and also getting survival barter and medicine.. will have some other minor stuff too..

Mostly a hulking slow moving nerd daydreamer who loves energy weapons and wandering around making things and finding things and blasting things to ash.

Durablity SCIENCE! crafting and energy weapons with the ability to cart an entire store around with him.

Guns or Energy (probably guns, that Gobi Sniper gives me a half a chub)
Sneak
Repair
-Science
-Lockpick
-Survival
--Explosives
--Speech? Probably have to pull points from Cha to boost Str, so maybe Medicine. Was lackluster in 3, maybe it'll be a better investment in NV for man than just quest options.
---etc.

Wild Wasteland, Trigger Discipline

No idea on stats, have to play around with that...I tended to skimp on Strength in FO3, but with the req's on weapons, dunno. Agility, Perception, Luck, Intelligence, blargh. I'm not going to lie, first mod that gets rid of Strength req's on weapons is probably going to get my dl.

No clue on perks, just wing it depending on how things play out.

TAGS: guns, repair, lockpick. Secondary: survival, science, medicine.

I plan on maxing only repair and guns. Science and lockpick get enough to max with clothes, and magazines. Survival up to super stims. Medicine as my final point dump. From my estimates I think I can pull all this off by 30. Prioritising will be a pain.

Only skills?

Well, I plan on putting 8 to 10 in INT (8 minimum) so I might be able to 100 these.
Anyway, these are the skills I'm focusing on and in that order.

1. Speech
2. Energy Weapons
3. Barter
4. Science.
And if I have leftover points I might put 'em in Survival or Explosives.
Here's the kicker, I'm going to play on hardcoe Mode without focusing on Survival. =D
Going to be fun starving to death a crapload of times. ^^,

You almost have to take Good Hearted with this build and from the sound of it Four Eyes. -5 to your Energy Weaps is worth the +5 to all your other priorities. Sorry If I went outside the scope of the thread this idea just sounded fun.

I am tempted to try hardcoe first and that to me means optimization in the direction of Survivability just your vanilla Wasteland Survivalist

Survival
Repair
Small guns

Traits Trigger Discipline (maybe another prob not)

Keeping the SPECIAL all atleast at 5 with any extras split between INT AGI and END
