Your first skill build

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:26 pm

So guys, its only four days until New Vegas is avaidible, what are going to be your main skill sets? Before I decide my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. I'll have to know weather or not agility still effects the guns skill, but any ways, my tag skills will most likely be...

Guns
Melee
Survival

(oh, and when I said effects the guns skill, I meant wethear or not it effects its overall damage, not its skill points as they used to. I'm hoping it will be in perception or something)

Will depend on perks, but probably something like:

Energy Weapons (or maybe Guns)
Speech
Science

I aim to maximize skill point gains so for secondary skills I'll try and up Repair, Explosives and Survival.

Either Firearms, Science, and Survival
or
Science, Speech, Repair

The latter is a science based pacifist that's going to spend lots of time running away from danger.

I definitely want to head off the beaten path right away and try to do something more abstract from my normal power-leveling, but I'll probably fall in love with one of the gun skills and repair so I can wreck havok upon the wasteland. :whistling: Definitely want to focus on the sniper role, as I tend to see alot more of the idle animations and NPC interactions when I'm hidden in the shadows versus charging at them and getting them aggro. Time for Rambo play-through later, I want to find that one NPC that can't be killed - and I suspect I'll have to go through the lot of em to find him/her too. :gun:

Sneak and maybe a focus on Speech and Personality traits to see if I can get more out of the quests... Then again there may be something completely new that looks too yummy to pass up. :)

For my hardcoe playthrough Survival, Melee and Speech... Ammo has weight, I can either avoid confrontation, or bash someones head in.

Explosives, guns, and melee weapons, which means I'm probably going with strength, perception, and agility as my focus for SPECIAL. I'll probably invest in endurance and survival, too. Unless I go melee weapons and explosives only, with survival.

Only skills?

Well, I plan on putting 8 to 10 in INT (8 minimum) so I might be able to 100 these.
Anyway, these are the skills I'm focusing on and in that order.

1. Speech
2. Energy Weapons
3. Barter
4. Science.
And if I have leftover points I might put 'em in Survival or Explosives.
Here's the kicker, I'm going to play on hardcoe Mode without focusing on Survival. =D
Going to be fun starving to death a crapload of times. ^^,

I have finally decided what I want my first character to be..
Just a [censored] stirrer who tries to cause mischief for all factions with sniper kills ,disguises ,sneak kills, etc
Im going to have to decide what skills fit best.

I start off with this build:

Medical (doctor/medicine)

Melee weapons

repair

then I replace melee weapons with guns when I have got a good number of guns for different situations. I try and get medical skills to the highest so stimpaks are at there best effectiveness and doctor bags. Then i focus on repair and small guns so I can maintain my weaponry at the best of there abilitys (damage and durability).

After a while when things are getting advanced I move onto energy weapons while despersing points randomly into anything they may be of use (barter and sneak)

I usaully ignore speech, barter, sneak, explosives and science skill near the start as I wanna focus on basic survival tactics rather than trading and sneaking.

Since the introduction of hardcoe, Im gunna try and make a hard build for me (uncombatant) and see how well it gets me so using speech, sneak and barter to get the things I want.

I'll probably start off with Guns, Sneak and Survival tagged and throw some points into Repair. Energy looks tempting though, so does Melee as a secondary...

Guns, Repair and Medicine. Same as Fallout 3, which served me well. All appear very useful in hardcoe, which I plan to play - more useful than Small Guns too. Master of all is long gone, but I'm hoping we can effectively get a fourth 'tag' skill going, which in my case would be Survival. After that, I'm quite torn...Sneak, perhaps? We'll have to see.

You should then go:
Charisma - 10
Intelligence - 1, or better, 0
Survival - 100
