Your first time in another country

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 7:01 pm

What was your first time out of your home country?
What country was it?

I as of yet I havn't been out of Australia, but for next years Christmas I'll be going to Fiji :)

So what was your first out-of-home-country holiday.

I went to Spain with my parents when I was 2... I don't remember any of it so I don't really count it as my first it my in another country. Then I went to Germany, Austria and Italy when I was 10. That I remember and it was awesome. Basically my parents just rented a BMW and drove from Munich to Bibione and stayed there for 2 weeks. ^_^

Very first time was when I was 2 and we went to Disney World. :)

The first time I traveled on my own, I went to France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany in a 3 weeks vacation. Which wasn't enough at all. So I returned to Germany for 3 weeks last summer. Which, again, isn't enough. (It's never enough! :D )

I'm currently planning on exploring Nunavut (One of Canada's Northern Provinces) and probably go to Ireland next year.

Good gods, that's hard to answer. I've been born in Killarney, Eire, with me at the age of one Ma got a job at the uni in her hometown of Uppsala, then she and Pa took me with them to a cousin of his in New England, and then we moved to East Germany until '88 and back to Killarney.

So, my first time out of my home country had me drooling and babbling, literally, since I was only one year old. :hehe:

Mexico was my first, but I was only seven. I remember an insane cab ride and a donkey painted like a zebra.

I lived for nearly four years in the Philippines. That was amazing. B)

Sweden, obviously. It's only a few hours to drive no matter where you live in Norway (as long as you're on the mainland of course), so that's more or less the first other country all Norwegians go to.

The last time?! We were talking about the first times. I travel to other countries every year. This year my targets are England and Greece.

Well technically... I have no idea. Because my mother was out of the country when she was pregnant (and I was the baby) so I don't know if that counts.

But first time after I've been born... eh, I can't recall. Possibly Slovenia.

Mexico but I don't count it since everyone here goes there to get booze. I consider the first country I've been to was Scotland. Beautiful place...

When I was about 10 I left South Africa and visited my sister's in London. Ever since then I've been to England a few more times, one of which I went to Scotland, Greece, Turkey, and 2 years ago I moved here to Saudi Arabia.

You moved to east Germany before '89 (Mauerfall)? Into the DDR? How did that go? Werenn't there some problems with the Stasi? xD

My first trip into another country was? Hmm hard to say, when I was very young I was in Austria, Swiss, Italy, France, Egypt... I were more in diffrent countrys then now.

First time was either Spain, Ireland or France, I went on quite a few holidays as a toddler. First that I remember would be Spain I think. Never really travelled outside of Europe yet. I am however going on a 3 day trip to NYC in March. Just a little bit excited about going to America.

Sadly I've never been out of the country. I'm hoping to travel Europe in the near future though.

Well I was born in Germany and came to the UK when I was about 2/3yrs old, although I count the UK as my home country - so my first time out of it was going to visit my Dad in Germany when I was about 4 :P I don't remember anything specific, apart from everyone being really friendly and just enjoying myself a lot - and I had a purple coat. I've had lots of lovely holidays abroad, but I think I love Greece the most, can't wait until I can afford to go back there as a grownup :) I remember being fascinated by all the little lizards we saw.

You can but you'd drown.

I suppose that's undesirable though...

As I live in The Netherlands, I don't really have to very far to end up in another country. I've been to Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Italy, Norway, England, Scotland...

In two weeks I'll be going without my parents for the first time: A one week vacation to Hungary (Budapest) with some fellow students. Hurray for subsidized 'study' vacations. :P

Big world out there....

For me it was Canada. I was 15 and my buddy had a drivers license and his own car. From Detroit into Windsor and out East on the 401 King's Highway to Toronto....from there, North to Lake Simcoe to camp.....and we met some local gurls there and no parents around !

I've been to Canada many times since, Point Pelee, Niagra Falls, Toronto/Scarborough, Stratford......

But I have never been to any other country besides Canada outside of the US.....boring huh?
