when you buy a game, do you actually research the game before you go out and purchase it?
I know with the internet being as commonplace as it is today, we have info on just about anything, so we can know quite a bit about something before we purchase it..
I don't do that however, I find it takes away from the experience.. I still buy most of my games the way I did in the 90s, sure there are a few series I really like that I will purchase regardless, but to me part of the experience of playing a game is going to the store, looking at the games on the rack, seeing something with an interesting title or great cover art, reading the back of the case, and buy it while not quite sure what kind of experience I am getting myself into..
Sure it means I get some games I really do not like as a result or are just ****, but to me it is still all part of the fun and I have come across some of my favorite games and franchises this way. picking up a game or a series I never heard of or I don't know much about, and dropping it in my disc drive with nothing but curiosity on what kind of experience I am about to have..
sure it may not be as cheap as being picky and doing research beforehand, but this is the way I have been doing things ever since I first started gaming, its part of the experience that I really enjoy, the Mystery.. whats the fun if you know exactly what your getting yourself in to? wheres the adventure in that?
I just feel that by accessing the info on the net spoils part of what I love about gaming, and things in life in general..
so, what are your game buying habits?
