I am approaching 2,000 on Oblivion.FO3 is around 700 and probaly reach 1000.FNV is around 300 and might end around 700.So still one of my favorites but it was a little to recycled for my tastes.

still a fair bit seeing as most games have little more than 100 if you really push to find collectable and play a decent amount of mp

EDIT: tbh im quite surprised that no one has bashed on halo reach yet.
it was a little bit of a let down.

Age of Empires 3. I am a BIG fan of AoE 1 and 2, but besides graphics it was a massive disappointment. Too Euro-centric, hated Single Player so much I never finished it past the first act.

I forgot to mention Far Cry 2. It looks great, sounds great, but I personally found some of the game design elements ruined it for me, eg. fast respawning guards at checkpoints, vehicles constantly overheating, bullet sponge enemies who can somehow see me hiding in tall grass in the dark from 100 metres away, and a character who has malaria and has to keep buying medicine for it. What twisted game designer thought the malaria thing would be 'fun'?

I got it for only 10 dollars for my birthday and while I agree with all those issues (except maybe malaria), I love it how its basically a "Blood Diamond" game. Every five minutes I want to scream "Sis! Aye need sum shumba n' a dakka dakka!"

on the contrary to everyone else (it seems) i love far cry 2

the multiplayer is incredibly solid, and the campaign is awesome.
infact i probably feel more immersed in that game than i do in any TES game. probably because the scope of the immersion is a lot less ambitious, how ever that matters not.
there were literally days where the time outside would be less important to the time it was in the game. Now thats immersion ;)

I remember I tried this game called Clive Barker's Jericho. That was just plain bad. The concept of the team you were a part of was just silly. The gameplay was sloppy, and despite that the plot was written by Clive Barker, who to many are a master of horror, the game lacked any fright and thrill. The graphics were nice though, but the sound effects were bad, and sound effects should never be bad in a horror FPS. In general, it was just a weak game on evey level except graphics, but nice graphics are worth nothing if the game isn't worth playing.

Morrowind

Had I played the game before coming to these forums, it would not have disappointed me all too much, but the way some people around here hyped it up, I was expecting far more than I got. I could go into the details, but in short, the quest structure, setting, gameplay mechanics, and various small features were not nearly as good as I was led to believe. Daggerfall was another disappointment... a very, very great disappoinment. Again, some people on here overhyped it. I've also never played it due to disappointment in what I've heard, but I'd say Final Fantasy XIII is a disappointment.

Def Jam Icon. I'm sure it let down EA Chigaco too as it was closed down shortly after the game flopped. Runner up has to be Mass Effect 2. I'm not so much disappointed with the game as I am with commander Shepard.

I just want him to stay dead at this point.

Red Dead Redemption for sure. I read the reviews, and everyone praised it. I bought it, and I haven't even spent 3 hours on it yet. I just can't seem to get into it.

Bioshock 2, but who wasn't disappointed?

I actually enjoyed Halo:Reach quite a bit. To me, Halo 3 was the disappointment. (The Battle Rifle killed the sandbox imo)

And of course, as I have already mentioned, the atrocious Final Fantasy VII. VIII and IX were MUCH MUCH better imo.

Holy. Crap.

I also try to stretch my games. I stretched FNV to 26 hours (I did every side quest I came across). I'm not sure what I have to do to even reach 30 hours, let alone 300!!!

You musta been sprinting around and skipping a lot of stuff in FNV... I did like 60 or so quests and explored nearly every marker and my first and only play-through so far is clocked at 86 hours.....

I don't know for FNV as I did not buy it yet. But FO3 with 150-160 h is already very boring, with level 20, you are almighty, all is explored and I put a lot of quests mods to make it longer.

Skipping? I only skipped fetch quests as far as I know. Completed every NCR quest and everyone in the world bar the Legion and some punks love me.

26 hours? Seems to me like you missed a fair chunk of side quests then. Although I'm sure it's possible to do all quests in less than 40 hours.

Already? FO3 is a disappointment because of that?

Wow my character has done every mission, dlc and is at lvl 35 and I have about 80 hours.
Thats just one character too I have 3 others I am working on. Damn no idea how you did all that.

Got to agree with freddo 150 hours is damn good, especially compared to most games.

wow only 147 hours of gametime!
what a rip off, you should so get your money back for the lack of content that was there!

/end sarcasm

With out a doubt, crysis 2.
i have been amped for it for ages it seems. i went to my friends house and he had the MP demo on xbox.
Totally put off by the fact that multiplayer is basically CoD with nano suits.
Seriously, default armour mode is Speed+strength?!? WHAT THE FRAG IS THAT B.S!
As soon as you get into a gun fight its just auto turn to armour mode and spam with what ever gun you have on at the time.

I was really hoping for somthing unique of the Crysis 2 MP, but its just more of the same.
utterly disappointed.

Really my experience was more shoot and hope the hitdetection works. Also melee 1 hit kill + camo = overpowered.

The game was just bad imo. I know someone will say "it was just a demo/beta" and how MP is irrelivent, but the gameplay was just bad. If your xbox dosent freeze.
Personally I will tick with halo reach, its ppretty much the sameas crysis MP (armour powers), only good.

Yeah I don't know why. It actually felt that I would spend a much longer time playing, however once I got to Vegas (20 hours in) I found myself quickly finishing the main quest.

Reading through this whole thread, most people have been disappointed because of false advertising or even false expectations on their part. It helps to keep yourself well informed and level-headed. You should try that some time. ^_^

That said, I mostly get disappointed in general development. Most mainstream games, when taken the circumstances and plans into consideration, are quite fine these days. But there are cases that really fail even when you know exactly what the developers wanted to do.
Oblivion was one of these, since the most important aspect in an RPG - the character system - was horribly broken, leading to playability only with usually gratuitous amounts of metagaming.
Far Cry 2 had a really nice concept, but the devs seemed to have run out of ideas about what to do with it, and repeated the same stuff over and over and over again. Sure, sometimes you not only run out of ammo and your gun breaks and you get a malaria attack, but also a fire breaks out, but what difference does it make if last time your gun broke and you got a malaria attack and spotted a fire in the distance breaking out?

Already? FO3 is a disappointment because of that?

I think I answered this question above as I put FO3 as the most disapointing game ever:
- clumsy story
- stupid gameplay

The disapointement for me come from the shift, between the quality of the graphisms and the sounds tracks and the lack of realism of the gameplay, which totally breaks out the immersion. Do not misquote me, the quests are not that stupid. There is a black humour background, there was a certain sophistication. But when we talk about gameplay, level progression, perks, this is a total bs.

Let's take an example: I play Mario, I do not want it to reproduce the reality. It's a platform game. But when I buy a RPG, with such good graphism, I expect the characters will follow as well some basic rules.

I understand that, for a market segment, this is fun to shoot all supermutants, raiders and ghouls and see the heads exploding... But in that case, no need to put quests. For me, FO3 should have much more emphasize stealth, poisoning, sniping etc... One deadly bullet, finish. The game is irrealistic. At level 20, with the highest difficulty level, I am a master of the Wastelands, I can weaken a deathclaw with a gun and finish it with a sword. This is ridiculous. There are so many things that seems to have been done/redesign to shift the game from a real RPG to an FPS. Limiting the level to 20 is one: the progression was so quick that the game was not anymore interesting above 20. Thus the idea of limiting the level. But why a fast progression ? Purely because it helps to attract this market segment who is looking for FPS with content.

FO3 was a marketing success, not a game success, unfortunatly. It was,as we say in France about some ladies "beautiful from far away but far away to be beautiful"

Daikatana: I was really hoping it was going to live up to the hype. So failed.
Fable: Again, way too much hype and not enough game.
Dark Sector: I picked it up for $10CAD and still felt ripped off. Find cover, launch Frisbee, move to other cover. Later, rinse, repeat. Not much of a compelling story either.
Deus Ex 2: Totally dumbed down the gameplay from the first one. Just sad.

I'm sure there's tons more but I don't want to think of all those games.

I know what you mean, after reading comments on this forum i was expecting it to be better than everything else combined. Instead, it's just a game with plenty of questionable design decisions
