Your "Home"?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:39 pm

Well, though i normally have access to safehouses and such, this is not the time to talk about that. I use the Lucky 38 and the Motel Room in Novac both, as it is convenient to have access to plenty of storage and places to store gear if needed, as i do not want to be hauling a ton of stuff around. Anyway, back to patrol,

You should try that downed airplane shack near the cross at Yangtze Memorial, right on the left of where you're looking when you fast travel there (really only about 20 steps away from where you spawn). I've been using it for awhile and haven't lost one item I've put in there. It has a bed, reloading bench, ammo crate, and first aid kit inside. Plus it just makes you feel like a badass mercenary to use a shack in the middle of the desert rather than a motel room.

That's the place I go with! What's also great is that there are three Xander Roots to pick up, one between the memorial and the shack (kind of hard to see, it's placed lower into the ground), and the other two next to each other by a small rock on the downslope in front of the door.

The problem with that shack are the Giant Radscorpions that live near it. They can be a real pain when low level. They have a bad habit of sitting outside the door.

That's why I chose that place, along with the ammo bench inside. I end up going through the whole Scorpion Gulch and basically just treat it as an opportunity to harvest even more radscorp glands.

I now have 2 giant ones and two small ones that are literally at the fast travel spawn, so I always fast travel there with my hunting shotgun at the ready.

fishermans pride shack is my home my character lives there with veronica hes an ncr ranger and everyday he goes out and patrols the area almost wishing for a nuclear winter and making sure no lakelurks cazdors or deathclaws are left plus the house is right next to the lake so they are never without water.Although when he got this assignment he was hoping there would be more gambling.

That is amazing. The fact that theres fish in New Vegas, I was hoping there would be some sort of fishing. The only reason I made a beeline on my first toon from goodsprings to lake Mead.

Lucky 38. No mods means I can't put my companions anywhere else. Since they're all my family and my army, I want to be with them. The storage is suitable to divvy up my items.
The loading screens are annoying though.

I've made Wolfhorn Farmhouse my own place, I like seeing the windmill from halfway across the map and think there's home. I keep the lucky 38 just for dropping off and picking up companions.

Same here. I like that there's nothing going on there...it's just a farm for the taking.

Lucky 38. It would be perfect if:
1. it had a reloading bench with it( maby in the bathroom, since theres nothing in it), or,if i cant have both, at least an option to have it instead of a work bench

2.If one of my two stoves could actualy cook things.

3.if there was a fast travel point outside of the lucky 38 instead of outside the strip.

Those things kind of bug me a little, especialy since this was suposed to be the main player housing. Makes me miss my meagaton home.

I was thinking of turning Vault 3 into a home. Use Fiends heads as a bed.

What is the best shack in the game do you guys think?

I wish the Remnants bunker was "Player Housing friendly". :sadvaultboy:

That would be my ideal hideout. Hidden, secure, and out of the way. (and Enclave themed)

yeah....but then I stil have to look at all the Brotherhood-themed stuff. The main reason I like the remnants bunker is that its got all those APA suits and a vertibird.

Still though, not a bad idea, its the next best thing really. I might just do that. :celebration:

Can't you just use console to unlock the doors for the Remnant bunker?

Now that Orion Moreno is preoccupied with his Remnant buddies, I've taken it upon myself to... uh... 'watch over' his house in his absence :whistling: . It's spacious, relatively well-lit, tons of shelving to display my stuff, and tons of storage. It's nearly identical to Doc Mitchell's house in Goodsprings. And there's an NCR Fast-Travel marker 10 seconds from my new home! What's not to love?

Scouted out Harpers shack, love it. I mailed all my stuff to Novac, cleared out all the enemies between the two, and am getting ready for a long walk. Got plenty of mines (Got a nice pile of frag mines and a few powder charges) to scatter around the area, mainly near the local blind deathclaw up in primm pass, and the nearby raider spawns. Wish it had a fridge, but can't have everything I guess. xD

I just made my home at Harper's shack, like many here, and I must say it kicks ass! I love the two tables in the center of the room, all guns displayed there and I feel like the Uni-Bomber when I come home! Plenty of space too!!

At the beginning of the game I hang out at the docs in Goodsprings - mainly due to the storage boxes etc (I prefer to keep everything ordered and organised into seperate storage)

As soon as I can, however, I book into the Novac Hotel where I stay for the duration of the game - it has adequate storage and only one door - which is why I favour it over the Lucky 38, too much waiting around doors/elevators to get in, although with the mods, it is superior in terms of storage lockers, and is handy for companions.

At present I have it absolutely crammed with expensive weapons/apparel etc. - hundreds of Anti Material/Sniper/Marksman/Assault/Trail rifles, riot shotguns, pistols/submachineguns etc., and nearly a thousand service rifles for jury rigging repairs/maintinance. Also I'm nearly at three hundred sets each of NCR Ranger Veteran Armour/Recon Armour/Combat Armour too, plus a few hundred sets of NCR Trooper Armour, for repairs.

I think I'm getting too obsesed with stockpiliing and selling stuff - I've just made my first million, and there's nothing else new to buy LOL

How long does it take for containers to load in there when you access them?
