I think that conversation, especially the part where Arthur is talking about what caused the world to get blown up, really showed the truth behind not only the main flaw that will keep Arthur from being the leader he wants to be, but the real reason everyone bombed each other to hell in the first place.

The words coming out of his mouth are telling you it is science that destroyed the world, but his tone and body language and actions are telling you that it is angry men like Maxson that destroyed the world. Men who can't look past their own prejudices and hate to take the logical path, all while Danse is taking the path of hope.

It was hard to word that without any spoilers.

Great character development in my opinion.

Well, this game agrees with you then. That's good.

And i expect (most of) my gripes to be addressed with mods, making it a master piece worth of thousands of hours of play time, as has happened every time before :hehe:

I understood what you meant. :)

That conversation helped make both Maxson and Danse two of my favorite characters in the game, and especially knowing Maxson's history from back in Fallout 3 too as well as who he is related to. At first, it's almost like Danse could be considered a near mirror-image of Maxson so far as belief and loyalty to the Brotherhood went, but then things happened which set apart their differences. I'm hoping there will be more involving these two characters in the future.

I try to stay clear of number ratings and taking them too seriously. Just prefer seeing the pros and cons pointed out and an overall outlook based on those points made. Criticism and all that. However, I've already pointed out what I like and don't like about the game and I too am tired of typing it over and over again so copyeh and pasta a previous post that sums it up:

Overall, I consider it a bit of a step forward from Fallout 3, which for Bethesda is a good thing. However, it takes a step back in some rather significant areas that still keep it behind the likes of Fallout 2 and Fallout New Vegas for me.

8/10

My GOTY for sure, but I didn't give 9/10 because there's a few things I feel should've been hammered out by release. The headbob issue does not affect me since I do not suffer from any kind of motion sickness, but I think it's insulting to release a game this day in age that still does not address this issue. Crit Mechanic...what the poop? xD Settlement bugs - i feel like there's just a little too many critical errors for this to be considered release worthy. Just to name a few

I would like to give the game an 8, but because of certain bugs and the way Bethesda is apparently NOT working on them (at least the communication is very bad concerning bugs) I can only see Fallout 4 as a broken game right now and give it (and Bethesda) a 3 out of 10. It is not a 1 because up until the point were I encountered the basically plotstopping bug I rather enjoyed the game.

Voted 7 with exact same opinion. There are some good new thing like weapons miding, different armor pieces. But the story wise feel like a step backward. The moment when you met the institute does give some plot twist that I didn't expect it happen, but overall story feel linear. Especially dialogue mostly just yes/yes/jokes still yes/no

No special dialogues, lack persuasion check this make the game feel shallow and once I finished the game second time I found much less motivation to replay it

9/10

180 hours in I want for nothing and have no complaints. I'm totally the kind of person they made this for, whatever that means. Only 9 because you should never rate something a 10 unless it's going to marry you and have your children. Also puppies. Puppies are 10.

I give it an 8. I'm a huge fallout fan from the original games when I was a teen to these games now and I still love it. Sure its missing some of the charm of the older games but its still svcking me in. Personally I don't miss the skills. I like the new perk system. The dialogue is...kinda dumb but they can improve it. I love the way the wasteland feels now. With radiation storms and other weather it just feels better than Fo3. Overall I love the game and will be putting a ton more hours into it.

8/10 for the level of creativity and non linear game play which the settlement feature brings. Still playing with 2nd character and different faction alignment and happy despite these limitation. It's too bad Beth didn't think to add more immersive (but optional and toggle friendly) features like a digestive system and bowels for the PC. Or make food a necessity to eat instead of just healing your PC. At higher levels over 30+ and in PA, eating food is somewhat useless.

-2/10 for somewhat lacking in content, weak story line, poor dialog UI game mechanic, loss of creative ways for your PC to reply and interact with other NPCs. Also the Glowing Sea area in particular was completely underwhelming.

But the 8/10 is mostly because BGS hasn't released GECK or any official DLC as of yet.

10/10 is technically also 9,5-9,9... that's not perfect ^^

with thousands of games released during the last years, there is simply no way you can avoid the 10 and only have a scale from 0 to 9 ^^

a 10 scale system just isn't precise enough, so the 10 is still viable as an 'almost perfect, one of the best'

100% is another story :D

Since this is Bethesda, lets start with 10 points. And in case anyone's wondering, if it were some company on my "crap list" that I shall not mention here, the grading does not actually start from 10.

Let's look at things objectively and -1 or +1 accordingly.

-1 for totally rubbish story that's super short. Not able to broker peace, not able to take over all, etc.

-1 for utterly rubbish AI for a SINGLE PLAYER GAME. Totally unacceptable. Even in the rubbish FPS of today (WITH multiplayer) where the player just turn off their brains and shoot 'em up, the AI in those games are infinitely better than the ones in Fallout 4 and does not rely on teleportation.

-1 for nerfing player and buffing enemies to the point that bullets tickle them. in order words, LAZY difficulty settings.

-1 for flawed settlement stuff (building, settlers, and settler GUI)

-1 for limited dialogue options that's really an illusion of choice

-1 for totally rubbish dialogue from settlers ("I hope you aren't here for me" etc) and inability to recognise the only guy that's helping them and built their stuff for them.

-1 for small map, inaccessible boarded up places, etc

+1 for moddability

+1 for content

+1 for all the quests

6/10.

It gets a 7 from me. It was a stable launch, far more than any of their other games. Shooting mechanics drastically improved, graphics are decent and serviceable if not exactly the greatest available. Character creation options are amazing with the variety. Settlement creation is fun but fiddly. The story is initially interesting but peters out into vagueness beyond a certain point.

The lack of skill-based dialogue options is a real letdown, as is the lack of interesting dialogue in general. The level requirements for perks is awful and forces you to reach arbitrary levels before being able to do something, preventing early-game specialisation and railroading you into a combat role, since it's the only thing that doesn't have a level requirement. Would be better if higher special stats reduced the level requirement for their perks.

The gameworld is pretty but rather cramped, and half of it is ocean or un-enterable buildings.

It's not a bad game, but I feel it kind of lacks for things to do outside of the main quest and the settlements. I'll have to see what modders bring to it, but I don't see myself playing it as much as Skyrim or Fallout 3.

Not the best game evah, not the real RPG I was hoping for, lot of things I wish it could have been or done better or differently... but I gave it a 9 anyway. Despite what it is not, what it is is one very, very good game that keeps you up late nite after nite and gives you chairsores on your bum.

I give a 9.

What I was expecting was something very similar to F3. There were great improvements and a few setbacks. But, for my expectations, it came through like a champ.

If someone was expecting F1 or 2, I understand why they may feel it deserves a lower score- I just don't share that view.

Gave a 6/10.

Why the lost of points? afterall, its Bethesda's flagship : so we expect the very best..but it felt short.

1) Bugs, bugs and bugs. Is anyone able anymore to program anything without so many bugs?

2) Memory hungry and leakage: claim to be fixed with the new patch..we will see.

3) Several "good ideas" are in that mix..but seams to be "incomplete" For example: the construction: LOVE IT! BUT:

3.1) a better "clean up" process is in order (hate that grass sticking out in my freshly built HQ).

3.2) Half destroyed buildings should be able to become completely destroyed OR be rebuilt...all of them.

3.3) and of course: need MORE things to build....like for example a green house to properly grow things (and in a civilized manner)

4) The "after it all' , when all primary missions are over: pretty redundant after (gee! how many times does the same settler can be kidnapped from the same place and by the same raiders??) Should have a point where when happy and developed settlements are dominating the land (a minutemen victory) , Raiders gets less evident but more vicious (like migrating to a base?) Radiance of influence principle.

5) Couple of things that do NOT make any sens: for example:

5.1) WHAT is the use of having a GATE..if that gate simply open herself to ANYONE ANY TIME? Make those idiotic gate doors "settlers and convoy access only" AND able to be destroyed!

5.2) Make it a way so that building/designing an settlement properly does actually something: what is the point of advanced building and design if no one attack your settlements DIRECTLY? So many guns..so many unused coffins.

6) am not impressed with the graphics. Set up at the very maximum, they are good..but NOT that good and extremely far from WOW.

anywhoo..you get the idea....

This game has HUGE potential, seriously!..hopes it doesn't fall in the "underdeveloped" shelf like so many others.

7.5 but i gave 8 :) Why not 10 or 9 ? RPG elements simplified , dialog mechanic is terrible! you have 4 options but not exactly, what ever you choose character will say the same thing! that means you dont have real choice what to say and answer . So 4 options are just cosmetics. Poor optimisation in dense area especially on heights. Too much accent on gay! Every male character give you option to flirt?! WTF?! ok for 1 or 2 but all?!! settlements are bugged, some features like assign settler to shop, guard post etc... Weapons not ballanced, like Minigun, even legendary is usless .I have just fiinished main quest level 61 . at this point on hard difficulty too easy and main story is TOO SHORT! and not just too short but nothing special,no WOW effect . Bethesda realy needs new ,better quest writers. And i did not like leveling power armor, that ruines immersion! example: there is a power armor in open crate , if you are level 15 when you find it you will find power armor t45 . if you are l25 t60 and if you are level 40 you wil lfind X01! that svcks! Best armor should be hard to find and rewarding when found! regrdless what level you are.

Basically this.

8/10. Fallout 4 is definably my GOTY choice and is actually my highest rated game that came out this year. As well as being one of my top 3 favorite Bethesda games of all time. And again, same flaws basically.

However, my rating can change, just like with Skyrim. When Skyrim first came out, I gave it a 7/10 and it went up to 9/10 with patches and DLCs. So, same thing can happen to Fallout 4. (I never give 10/10 though, mind you. Nothing is perfect).

Actually, the RPG elements are honestly superior and a huge improvement over Fallout 3 and New Vegas, easily. I'm having more fun roleplaying as different characters each playthrough with Fallout 4 than with the previous entries. Since I have better choices and control with how my characters progress and develop.

Though, the dialogue mechanic is pretty bad but not as bad as you are making it out to be. Yes, sometimes it's really only two choices tops but not always.

A lot of your other stuff are just general opinions and nitpicks of yours or I at least hadn't experience the issues myself personally so can't say much.
