Your hopes on Automaton DLC?

Post » Tue Feb 23, 2016 2:10 am

So.. First off, I cant determine price v content on the DLC for fallout 4 because - what does $10 get you? In comparison the workshop DLC is $5 that includes settlement items, arenas and taming while the full land expansion is $20/25, meaning the DLC we get first is a near-inbetween price mark.

So.. We know we're getting customisable robots, new enemys and a few new guns.

But what are your hopes for the content? How this will all be implemented?

Personally, i'm assuming therell be a questline relating to the mechanist, add new items and the robots will show up like legengary enemies or as preston garvey "go here do this" scenarios.. Which im happy with.

I'm hoping for some new weapon mods and we know there is at least one new armor set.

We do?

Hoping for a small questline that will take like an hour or two to complete.

The one hes wearing in the sentry screenshot. They did say there was one new armour variant and (i believe) higher tier versions of the ones already present.. Not sure, i'd have to check.

I suspect people who actually picked the robotics perk gonna be happy, because I have a sneaky feeling some of the more advance robo parts gonna require ranks in it, a nice way to add life to a very meh perk.

I'm hoping they tie it into the General Atomics Galleria. If you talk to Sprocket, the NPC Mr. Handy in the General Atomics Outlet store, he will mention he is expecting a shipment of Mr. Handy kits any day now. It would be a good tie into an already existing location in the game. They could also add in a RobCo facility to explore. I don't think there is one in the Commonwealth, if there is I have missed finding it or forgotten about it.

Some things I want to see in the DLC. Being able to change Codsworth weapons out. Say a laser in place of his flame thrower. The ability to build Mr. Handy robots and use them in place of human/ghoul settlers. Most of all I want KLEO as a companion.

Content wise, I want the framework for a build your own bot to flexible. Choose the torso, choose the limbs. That way I can rip that framework apart and apply it to biological creatures. Imagine a build your own monster system. Cthulhu here I come!

i was anxious to get the robotics perk only to be let down with what the options were, once i was able to command them.

i like alot of these suggestions but some seem like they're far-fetched for a beth title. i can really only seem them implementing more companions and perhaps allowing more settlers of the robotic persuasion.

As long as it's got something for those of us who don't care for companions and probably won't be building robots, I'm happy. Kind of like Dawnguard still had new quests, dungeons, shouts, weapons, armor, spells etc.. if you weren't ever going to do the vampire thing. I probably won't be paying $10 for it if there isn't much outside of the robot building. Which I'm 90% is just a customizable sentry bot and not actually combining parts to make your own unique thing. I can't imagine that this engine can mix and match animations from different skeletons and what not.. though I don't know much about that stuff so I could be wrong.

A. This DLC is literally described as being themed around robots and creating your own companion

B. Its not just a sentry bot you can customise

C. Theres hundreds of parts to interchange inc voices, paintjobs, limbs, accessories

D. Skyrim is an entirely different franchise

Eh, well. Doesnt seem like the kinda DLC for you, i guess?

Well, judging by the price point and the look of the achievements, it looks like there is a small questline. I wonder if we're required to complete it before customizing our robots. My greatest desires:

We get to station at least one robot at each settlement.

Faction paint jobs for robots.

Eyebots we can tune to different radio stations, or to play patriotic music.

I think it'll be like weapon modding, but for robots. So you get a base Protectron, and you can choose the type of legs, arms, etc. Or an Eyebot or a Mr. Handy would have their own mod slots. It definitely won't just be a customizable Sentry Bot, though.

I have a feeling itll end up like the guns; theres a nice amount of choice but the endgame is very clear.

Itll boil down to using a slow but strong sentry bot, an agile and stealthy assultron or a robobrain which they havent talked much about.

I believe that is the Raider armour.

I hope that it mirrors the Power-Armour like construction. Type/Function; Level; Paint. But I am wary of it just being upgrades rather than customisation. Regardless of which I will use whichever has the most aesthetic value to me, as I do with everything.

My hope for the DLC is that the voices are desirable. I'm extremely curious as to how we can make our little (possibly huge) bots sound. KL-E-0 type voice would be fabulous!

How bethesda described it heavily implies that they will have different parts, say; a different arm limb weapon for a sentry bot being minigun, rocket launcher. They have changeable paintjobs, voices, ect.

I think itll be more visually impactful than PA.. i was dissapointed tesla mods didnt have prodruding tesla modules or an electric effect n stuff.

But it was also described that you had to kill the mechanists newly released robots to get these parts so..

Im rather worried how they show up. Is it "this robot has these parts and its here. Go kill it." or "theyll just show up randomly like legendary enemys"

Well they straight up told us its not just a companion, but a customizable one, with everything from parts to paint and even voice.

I want a couple of new weapons... I figure they'll be energy if they exist so at least a new big weapon (lightning gun sounds like) and a pistol hopefully (plasma caster, gauss). It looks like there's new armor so there's hope for this as well. For $10 I hope so.

A. I can read, thanks

B. How do you know?

C. You could easily customize a sentry bot with hundreds of parts

D. Meaning what? I can't use its DLC as a comparison? I could compare this to Call of Duty DLC if I wanted to lol

The only thing that's been confirmed is a "lightning chain gun", which I'm hoping since they mentioned it, isn't just something we can only attach to our robots. If they add many new weapons in Automatron, then you're probably right - they'll all be high tech and sci-fi stuff, no AKA-47s.

Pleeease, Beth, give us a Pulse Gun like in the original games! Something we can mod into a pistol, rifle, scattergun, automatic, and sniper just like the Laser and Plasma guns. It would complete the assortment of energy weapons, and give us something cool to pull out against the Mechanist's mechanical menagerie of miscreants!

A. I can see that.

B. Because, if you'd read their announcement, it implies theres multiple

C. Erm.. Okay? You could. But why would you JUST focus on a sentry bot. This was your complaint..

D. Meaning im assuming you jumped from skyrim to fallout 4 and didnt quite like it.

And now you're referencing COD so im almost sure you're an edgy 16 year old.

Yes, you could in the sence of content v price but if you're going to compare fallout 4 dlc to black ops 3 dlc gameplay wise you're not even going to give it a rational chance you're just here to complain.

Robotics expert is actually pretty OP now. You can now use it from a distance, it has a 100% chance of working, etc.

In many ways Bethesda made it better than intimidation and wasteland whisperer.
