Your X-Mas list (Of Info)

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 11:23 pm

hey all, the holiday season is finally here, and we might be getting some information about BRINK. This is great news, but what kind of info will it be? What do you want it to be?

Personally, i hope they do a Dev-Diary type thing where its like "Know your Role" or something like that, where they do a feature on each body type and class every day or every week up until the game's release. That'd do it for me, and i'd be content with just waiting until it comes out. So, what do you want?

There should be a "12 days of christmas" type thing that they do.

Besides a concrete release date, I would like to see some more gameplay footage from some different levels we haven't seen yet.

I'd like to see something along those lines as well, but rather one DevDiary about the body-types, one about the classes, one about the weapons, one about the appearance of your character. Each giving us an in depth insight on each of these topics.

OR the diaries give us a general insight into each topic but come along with more detailed information as text.

The anticipation is killing everyone. How is it that I can find myself addicted to a game that's not even on the market yet?! I just want more information on game modes and levels for X-mas, Splash Damage.

There were a few gameplay videos that leaked from the expos, but SD got youtube to take them all down.

More movies with commentary from the creators.

A demo or a beta might be wishing too much?

How about a "PC or multiplatform demo date", where us non-shooter types can get a taste of the action? Not THE demo... just "yeah, we'll have a demo out on this day. Try it. Really. Unless you can't afford the real deal. Then it would be torturing yourself." That'd make my Christmas... while I wait for Skyrim video and such.

Otherwise, I'll have to wait for the game to trickle into my circle somehow for a "trusted recommendation". I'm just not the type to buy games at release prices without seeing them first-hand, or having a solid recommendation from my inner circle...

And I like the SMART concept. I want Brink to be a must-have game. I just... want a little self-assurance before dropping the cash...

If you have a PC, there are always steam trials, once the game actually come out. Just need a friend who has the game and is willing to send you one.

A North American closed beta that includes Canada. I'm sick of reactivating my American account whenever I want to get into a beta.

I'm not sure if you're asking if it is, or if you're wondering why it's not normally included.

1. Yes it is.
2. Different laws and separate accounts mean that too often we get shafted with betas and contests. Oh, and Hulu. We still don't have freaking Hulu.

I live in one of the few places in America where I can go straight south and get to Canada. So, yes, I was just being a smart ass, but it seems odd not to include Canada - I mean, it's America's hat. Maybe American companies just don't like beavers, you all have them as pets, right?.

What I have right now is a blizzard outside my house and very cold fingers. Today I had to go outside and shovel my driveway twice. Sometimes Canada blows.

PC? check. just upgraded in September.
Steam? Check. New Vegas (secret: I'm an RPG player at heart).

Friends...? not so much.
Friends with money? Most make less than I do.
Friends likely to buy Brink? Not so much.

Like I said, it'd be a nice Christmas present to know I can circle a date to test drive the game.

Ok, so just ask for one on the forums once the game is out, I'm sure there will be someone willing to give you one. I'd be willing, depending on how many they let me send them out, I already have a couple friends that will have to come first, though.

I'm curious does Canada have snow days for schools? i know its not relevant to the subject(neither is your post though).
anyways on-topic what i want to know is what are the limits of the s.m.a.r.t system? as in how high can you go with it in a level, can you actually reach the rooftops(would be cool imo if it was possible), is there a height limit that the slide can save you from damage on. stuff like that, and what month do think they will release brink on (i figure asking what month they think they will be able to release on is more reasonable at this point then day)
edit: just to clarify I'm asking is it possible to get on roofs like they showed in steams second trailer where both the bug and anger archtypes were on the rooftops and if so whats the limit(will we be limited to just the roofs of the refugee side of the ark or can we get on top of almost every roof we can find ways up to?)

I don't think there's any reason the rooftops would be off limits. There are no invisible walls in Brink, so there's no build in height limit. And developers made sure that if an object in the environment looks like you can interact with it, then you can. So the only way a rooftop would be off limits is if they made it simply too high to get up there. But seems like such a ploy would just lead to people figuring out exploits, with the lack of invisible walls.
