Your Morrowind Mod Wishlist.

Post » Sat May 05, 2012 4:11 pm

Hey Guys,
I am pretty bored at the moment and after I watched a Video of someone playing the Morrowind theme on a piano, I am very excited to get back to playing and modding my favourite game since 2004.
In this thread you can type down your Morrowind Mod wishlist. Be it a promising Project or a new idea for a mod or something that has not been working up to date.
Of course you can put in things like "All of Tamriel!", but i think its more fun to have more realistic ideas, that could actually work.
And I think we can all agree on a final version of TR.

I'll start.
I know I've posted this Idea before in an other thread, but this time it's not an incoherent mess (since I'm not drunk this time). And you guys can post your idea aswell this time. I'm eager to hear your wishes and Ideas!

Personally I would love better mounts in Morrowind. Not necessarily ones you can ride yourself, but some added for immersion. Like Stiltstriders and Netch transportation inspired by this Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSRj6JsBNhs . An easy start would be decorating the static Stiltstriders in the cities so that it looks more like this: http://lelek1980.deviantart.com/gallery/35194628#/d4l7fi7. However, occasionally encountering a Stiltstrider or Netch with travelers and / or cargo on it on the strider routes would be neat. I know there are wild Stiltstrider creatures in some mods also tamed Netch with bags on it, but I dont know how difficult it would be to modify them into actually carrying passengers around. (Probably as a single Model, since that would be the easiest way.) Same goes for Guar riders. Also mounted Guards on Netch and Guars outside of cities and in the countryside would be very cool in my opinion. After all, there are mounted creatures in the game like the Rieklings on the boars. In TR there is also a Giant Wasp carrying a guard. And Warstriders with Battlemages and / or Archers on it would be awesome, too.
Just like Warriors on Durzogs while we're at it.

Woohoo, a trhead I can place a mod wishlist on!
This is the best Bitter coast replacer I've seen, that Vality (Who'd I'd say is my favorite modder) made. http://web.archive.org/web/20090208235752/http://vality7.googlepages.com/screens Both the trees and the .ini settings would make the game look SOO beautiful.
http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt297/Vality7_2/Elder%20Scrolls/Heightmaps/mwx_104.jpg I really like how this screenshot looks also. The ice and the mountain in the background add to the effects of it.
Vality's grazelands remind me of something from long ago.Nostalgia? Looks really nice. http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt297/Vality7_2/Elder%20Scrolls/Grazelands/ES_040.jpg
That's all I can think at the top of my head so far...

Well, off the top of my head right now:

+ Cursed items scattered across the game would be cool. I'm not talking about the pieces of Raw Ebony in Daedric ruins that generate Dremoras when you pick them up. I mean pieces of armor and weapons, misc items, scrolls, etc., that are scripted with negative effects that give the player something to think about before using it, as well as the ability to still enchant the item (if inherently possible). I'm actually working on this, it's going to be the next mod I put out.

+ There should be more than one Emperor Mudcrab shell on the whole of Vvardenfell. Maybe not dozens of them, but at least a handful, enough of them to serve as centerpieces for most of the Ald'ruhn-style Dunmer cities. It makes sense that the Dunmer would gravitate towards the shells and build around them.

+ There's a lot of little mods that could use other little mods to enhance them. For example, Saint Jiub's Divine Dagoth Ur gives old Loincloth Man glowing eyes, which I enhanced the effect of by darkening the chamber you first fight him in. A plug-in which enables fans of Yagrum Advanced to summon Centurion Destroyers (that's what I call Antares' little versions of the giant Centurion you find in Bamz-Amschend) would be cool, although someone besides me would have to handle that, because I svck at scripting. :P

+ Speaking of Durzog mounts, I think the goblin army in Tribunal is due for an upgrade. I haven't played Antares' Alternate Tribunal MQ yet, so maybe he touches on this, but what I have in mind is probably way different. I'm picturing the goblins having been trained more successful by those two Altmers, working in groups at all times, having shamans with them that summon undead and throw lightning and stuff. They should have camps built in strategic spots, where they've moved rubble around in order to fortify their positions. They were preparing for war, let's have them act like it.

+ Enemy resurrection powers. By this I mean powerful enemy magic-users (particularly those with high Restoration levels) who bring their allies back from the dead through scripting. Be easy enough I think, and pretty challenging.

+ Competing adventurers. Picture this: You're in a Daedric ruin, you just got done slaughtering a bunch of Golden Saints and Storm Atronachs, you're about to lay your hands on that Daedric Dai-katana you've been searching for, and all of a sudden an NPC covered armor better than yours comes out of nowhere and jacks it. Now you have to chase him, but he has allies, and they drive you off. You run into that same NPC later on and get your revenge. Sound like fun?

+ Indiana Jones-style ruins full of booby traps that require more stealth and cunning than HP and killing skills. Antares has done http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9320 that's pretty cool, and we need more I think.

As far as mount go, I would like to see redoran guards mounted on the raptors that are out there. they are half set up in the mod. But i am not sure how to carry it out. Or i would have done so already. Also I would like the cliffreacer sounds replaced with something a little more haunting, kinda like the stiltstriders. And i would like vality7 to go ahead and release the land mod he teased us with last month. Please!

I'd still love a mod that makes those companion mods even more useful. I've been wanting a death alternative mod that uses companions to save you, but I'm sure there are other things people could think of that makes a companion desirable.

Rattfink: what raptors are we talking about? I don't remember seeing any in the Ashlands, so are you talking about the mainlands?

I am currently brainstorming for a puzzle mod.
Not really the Indiana Jones style action trap kind of thing. But something to get your brain a little bit working.

Are they included in an other creature mod already?

also, no promises but I'm adding that strider stuff and the cliffracer sound change to my to-do list for my ashlands project. The strider thing I'm fairly sure I can pull off, the cliffracer one would take a lot of luck to stumble on a good sound for it :|

My one big wishlist item? A nice, classy blue fedora. Slof's Goth Shop II has hats, but I wouldn't call them fedoras. The brim on them is huge! It's like a cowboy hat.

My idea of a character wearing a brown trench coat, a cig in one hand, and a snubnose .38 revolver in the other, with just his fedora to keep his eyes clear in the rain, would be possible with such a hat.(I have the trench coat, revolver, and could get a animation where he smokes a cig, but without a fitting fedora, it just won't work).

Other then that, most of what I want I already have. A "Life after death" mod, a mod for Necromancy, a mod for becoming a Lich, a awesome stronghold made even better(I play Mages, and I favor such guilds). All I could want next is a large selection of cool spells, and I already have that as well.

Maybe you would prefere playing Fallout3 or New Vegas? o.O

Nah. I just wear a Fedroa IRL and think it looks awesome. If it doesn't fit the lore, then damn the lore, it's a nice hat!

Another thing I would love to see, is scripted critical Spell effects chances based on your Destruction Skill and the enemies or your Elemental Resistance.
Fire would for example cause afterburning, doing the same damage over again in lets say 10/20 seconds. Frost could have Drain Speed as a critical (or that Iceblock thing from elemental Magic). Lightning could cause Paralysis. Having all these things working in the background whenever youre casting would be really really cool!
What do you think, is it possible with MWSE?

A replacer for Morrowind. :P Bigger and more detailed Vvanderfell. Doubt anyone will tackle sich a thing and can't imagine much people playing with that anyway since it would clash with TR but Vvanderfell became too small now that we know every inch of it. So at least a mod that overhauls the place completely, flora, fauna, towns etc. Not talking about mods such as Vurt's awesome trees, I'm not talking about replacers, I mean whole artistic overhaul. New flora, new creatures, completely different layout of caves and paths in the wilderness, cities that are really freakin huge and so on.

Also I'd like to see more clothing, armor and creature replacers, most stuff, like weapons, are done to death, but there aren't many nice modern looking apparel (modern as in 2011/12 quality, not modern as in mod that features jeans, sneakers and kevlar vests :P ), almost no armor replacers (hedgehog's armors are awesome, but are a bit of an overkill, completely out of MW's style imho), and I'm not even going to start on creatures, aside from a couple of good BB replacers from Westly and the likes, those such as cliff racers, rats, ghosts and nix hounds are totally ignored. There are a couple of decent retextures, sure, but non of them fiddle with actual mesh.

I'm kind of tackling that eventually. Vvardenfell won't be bigger, necessarily, but it won't be the same when I'm done with it either.

As of right now, it's called Dwemereth, and there's a pretty good reason for that. What I will tell you is to imagine most of Vvardenfell belonging to Dagoth Ur. Imagine his Ash minions being the accepted law enforcement in the land. Imagine cities like Ald'ruhn, Balmora, Gnisis, and Vivec falling into ruin while House Dagoth bases grow in scope and power. Imagine that next to nothing stands in Ur's way. Imagine that the past is not as you've known it to be.

Mod wishlist would include a mod that doubles the size of Morrowind, increases its height to a more realistic size, adds Skyrim, Cyrodiil, the rest of Morrowind, Argonia, Elsweyr, Valenwood, Hammerfell, High Rock, and the Summerset Isle, improves the quests to include more choices and greater consequences. Aaaaaaaand go.

That's nothing. Then I'd have a bleeding edge new engine with full tessellation, extremely fluid animations, ten times the scale of Morrowind, plus all of Tamriel, Atmora, Akavir, etc. Fully physics supports, everything destructible, real forests with thousands of polys of stuff everywhere, all of it running in a commodore 64 with 300 fps! Yeah.. It's a long term wishlist...

my most wishlist is a program or mod that enhanced AI, make morrowind npc AI more uptodate, such as npc can go through cells, more animations, interactive with object [chair, bed......].
and a enhanced mod editor with new features. and a better combat animations replacer like skyrim.

- New character animations and models. Better Bodies did an amazing job with what had been possible, but animations are one of the very few aspects of the game still not brought up to date. For a reason, I fear, but it's a wish list.
Not necessarily combat or kill moves or such stuff, just normal character animations. They look... old nowadays and where not great to begin with, even when the game was released.

- TR with quests.

My wishes are to introduce much much better animations for the NPCs and creatures (at least like in Skyrim).
Also I'd really wish to see more features included in MGE XE in the future (water chromatic aberration, interior and projected light sources shadows, raindrops when colliding with surfaces, and being able to toggle on/off each of these graphics features in the MGE XE settings window)

Otherwise, I'm curious if it is technically possible to replace the skybox and foggy horizon by using distant clouds at the horizon, as seen in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
Some examples about this idea:
http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/pripyat_kinder1.jpg, http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/af2_pan_01.jpg, http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/pripyat_prometei2.jpg...
I remember someone posted something similar on a thread here a long time ago... Good idea?

I do agree the skyrim dwemer stuff is the best and most sensible to date. Although i like the morrowind claymore better. Dunno, I may give knocking some resources about to see if we can get a similar look to the dwemer armor. But new meshes are beyond me right now. (Although i now have a copy of blender for dummies. But wished they made a total simpleton version, with big pictures)
