Your Morrowind Traditions.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:23 am

I was just wondering if anyone else has any little traditions for every character they have, something they always do. For example, i always steal the limeware platter and always do the fargoth quest. I always go to balmora first too.

I always go to see the falling elf before I head to Balmora... it is a good luck omen... maybe...

Solve a murder mystery, catch (or fail to catch) a falling elf, check out several tree trunks, visit 2 shipwrecks, 2 caves and 3 tombs, then head to Balmora. I really should start using an Alternative Start mod.

I have a few too. Many of them are mod related though.

Every character finds the missing tax collector, and squares things away with the widow. Fargoth gets his ring, but I no longer hit his stash at night. I take the treasure map(Three Shades of Darkenss) from the downstairs room in the Census Office, and the Chameleon Ring(Cloudy from the Arimer mod) and press my luck. Oh, and we always loot the body of the "hero" (Hero's Hovel) and often purchase his home outside of Vivec(there is a toasty bow in the chest inside.)

I collect all the necessary flowers and mushrooms for Ajira's quests at the Balmora Mages Guild, where I also purchase all the necessary spells I need to soultrap the various things I need to myself(Water Breathing, Telekinesis, resistance to Paralysis, boost Luck and Strength some).

If I can survive one onslaught from facing a Baley Jones Pirate Archer (Liligue) then I take that sword to the Mournhold Bazaar(Great Bazaar) and get enough gold to outfit me with bow and arrows of choice, and clothing(Soticoto's Gung-Fu Clothing), and I go to Balmora to buy the Dome Home(Emma&Grumpy). After getting grifted by the staff for gold, and giving out fancy dresses and sandals to all, I grab Ingred and off we go to explore the land at large. I also pick up another smaller apartment(The Lucky Lockup) and also one larger one in Balmora(Aelathar) just in case I want to keep my companions separate. ; )

Usually by level 2 I am already getting attacked by the Dark Brotherhood, so I often start the Tribunal quests immediately. I pick up Calvia(Calvia and Rerlas) and we progress a great working relationship. By the time Almalexia is spanked, I take Calvia and give her what she always wanted to retire in; a cottage by the water(A Good Cottage), then it is off to start the Main Quest. By now, they are usually level 7 or so, and I then pick up Luthien Morvayn(MCA) at the Balmora Fighter's Guild. She accompanies me to the Ashlander camps and also through Kogoruhn. She's a decent archer. We pick up the ready made family(Rat-in-the-Pot(Emma)) and take them all to a new SAFE home(Ascadian Rose Cottage).

Everyone picks up Gatanas(Westly presents The Markynaz/Gatanas) and we make sure she gets her armor as well as enough adventure to trigger her comments.

If they are ready for Red Mountain, I collect my best of companions for guarding on my way to the Ghostgate (Ingred Rems(Dome Home), Luthien Morvayn(MCA), Signild(CM Partners)) and we all head to face Dagoth Ur. The gals stay at the gate, because I have dragons behind the gate(A Dragon's Den). Even the juveniles are powerful.

After the fanfare of a hero, I will cycle through the companions for all the various mod added quests(Liligue, Tel Nechim, Helm's Deep, tons of others) Some are pretty epic, so I might bring two along. By level 20, I walk to Ashalmaweia and pick up Shareel(after listening to her background) and we explore the world as well as Solstheim. She usually stays with me from then on, as I take on the responsibility of her welfare. Only one or two of the characters will retire in Lokken(The White Wolf of Lokken Mountain), where that entails its own adventure, family, and treasures. Others, explore the world deeper and even take on more adventure as the modders create them, or as my load order (almost 255) will allow.

Also, usually by now, I have enough Leaves of Lorien Armor to outfit a small army of companions or guards for whatever castle or mansion I might prefer.

I send each of my characters on a running/swimming vacation around Vvardenfell and Solstheim. I generally do this pretty early in the character's life - usually before level 5. I started this in my very first game, back in 2002 and it become a kind of rite-of-passage for all my characters since then.

I mod a house for each of my characters. I put a lot of thought into each house. It's actually a part of the process of creating that character in my mind. Each house is tailored to that particular character: I try hard to design each one to express something essential about that character. By the time I've completed a character's house I have a pretty clear idea who that character is.

When I retire a character I remake them as an NPC and place them in (or near) their house. I have turned a few of them into merchants in shop mods. Often a current character will pay a visit to one of my retired characters. I think they gab about me when I'm not at my keyboard.

I thought Pseron Wyrd's tradition was really cool lol. I don't have the pc version so I can't do that though :(

My little traditions I guess are to get all the loot in the census office that is worth 10gp or more, and then sell it to the merchant in Seyda Neen. I always do the quest where you get the... 100... maybe 200 gp is hidden in the hollow tree trunk. I kinda forget how much exact gold is in there, but it's at least 100. Then I do the quest where you solve the murder mystery of the tax collector.
After I do all that, I'll buy some armor and a good weapon or two... then I clean out the smugglers cave by the silt strider. There's a lot of skooma and moon sugar in there lol :D
... I think I basically stay in or around Seyda Neen as long as possible lol. I guess my last tradition is the fact that I never take silt striders, I literally go everywhere on foot.

I run straight to red mountain naked for a fist fight with Dagoth Ur. :sb:

...Just kidding. I normally go to Ald-Ruhn first, it's pretty much my home town :P

I steal the limeware platter, and some times the books on the shelf... then I loot the other rooms for all there is to find. After that I give Fargoth his ring and then trade my loot with Arille... and then I find the falling bosmer, loot him and proceed to the murder victim and do that quest.

Next place to go is usually Balmora (I spend a lot of time there). Some times I go to Ald-Ruhn to steal some bonemold armor from the guard towers, but after that it's usually back to Balmora.

I also use Creeper as my main income of money, I spend a lot of time at his place waiting for his money to "respawn".

I usually go around Balmora, Ald'rhun, Gnisis, Caldera and read the many skills books lying around.

I often head to Tel Branora within the first two days so I can....
Spoiler
grab the glass weapon from a certain desk in a certain Tradehouse. ;) I usually won't use it though, just sell it for cash.

I tend to do all the Seyda Neen quests and explore the Bitter Coast. My characters usually live out of one of the shacks there and go pearl-/ingredient-/dungeon-hunting in the area.

Just for me I go to Suran and get the damaged Glass Dagger, repair it, and sell it to Creeper.

I play with around 20 character builds, pick my favorite skills that they had, then create an actual character that i play with until around level thirty, afterwords deleting all game files and starting over.... it gets pretty frustrating and takes a few months :banghead: but gives just about the best results :disco:

Usually I slaughter everyone in Seyda Neen, sell their stuff to Arrile (as well as all the other loot from surrounding areas) then kill Arrile, take his stuff and sell what I can to Creeper and everything else to their respective vendors. Usually end up with about a nice 7-10k after all is said and done.

Safe to say my favorite past time is "lawfully" pillaging villages and farms and what not.

I have an alternate start mod myself, but sometimes I still go to Seyda Neen and grind out as much cash from it as I can.
I've stopped grabbing those Bows a mod gives (nets around 7k), because that just FEELS like too much too fast. I do kind of like working (or stealing, as the case mostly is) for my cash rather than finding and selling modded-weapons.

I usually turn left out of the census and excise office and stab the slaughterfish, because the first time I played I didn't read the prompt before hitting "ok" and found that the scales made me money.

And I play the nord and fargoth for fools and off with all the money in the stump.

I always loot everything in the census office and give Fargoth his ring then do the quest regarding the tax. I trade all my loot with Arille and buy some spells then go into peoples houses... kill 'em, take their stuff... and sell for moar money! After I killed all the people I can without getting in trouble with the law (so only inside houses and only when there is no one round but the target) I go to Balmora. From here things really depends on which character I selected but generally you can bet on the fact that someone in town will *ahem* 'lend' me their house (its.. because I 'asked' nicely...) and that I will pretty much take over all the guilds in town, if I do it right even both the warriors and thieves guild... if not then the thieves guild. Also I never start the main quest until I did all the guild quests and all the quests in the house I selected. Ahh... and because I also have the two expansions its kinda a right of passage being able to kill the Dark Brotherhood assassins then going on a pilgrimage to find and sell all their armour and weapons to the mud-crab merchant.

lol omg this ^^^

I always take a new character on a tour around the map just to give them some chest hair before taking on some quests.

then theres looting all the crates around balmora and selling all the junk to the pawnbroker. Seriously theres a good 600 gold to be made doing this.

Well, it's more a custom than a tradition, but...I ALWAYS repair my gear after a combat. I like to keep it perfect, and my char considers nearly an insult (to your foe) to begin a combat with anybody with broken equipment.
