I forgot to mention it also adds a Perk that gives a halo-like shield complete with interface UI for shield health for either vanilla or darnified.

It's an optional perk. No need to get the perk if you dont' want it.

+OK, been running the FWE ironsights overhaul and I must say that now I ironed out the problems I was getting with the HUD compass (some fiddling with Load order and editing) the Mod is very good indeed. It`s really great getting EVERY gun in ironsights 1st person. Amazing model work there, as good as stuff done with professionals like in BC2. Even though the Mod said it got rid of WW2 weapons, like Rendruk says, it doesn`t totally becuase I`ve seen at least 4 WW2 weapons in there, so that`s good. The FOV does not seem to work, but I like the breathing sound you get when wearing a full face mask (different breathing too!). Still working on fixing the FOV, but not a high priority.

I`ve endorsed it.

Sorry, if I sounded a bit rude earlier, just got a little worried that my perfect set-up had been ruined.

Just so you know -- in case you didn't catch the readme, because I sure missed it lol -- you need to disable RH-BasicVanillaPlugin.

I also discovered awhile back myself (even though it isn't in the readme, that you should disable the RH_FWE patch as well (As far as I'm aware -- I found that it would overwrite FWE Overhaul, but it may be possible to have overhaul load after it and still get OK results, I never bothered to test that).

Here's my little contribution: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3253. The light takes just long enough to turn on to be annoying... this fixes that.

Rendruk-

Or anyone - have you had success installing the FWE ironsight overhaul beta 1 using either FOMM or Wrye Flash?

Both programs have major issues with it and fail to install. I got it installed once with Wrye Flash but it damn near brought down the program on restart. FOMM too refuses to install the mod.

If you don't use an installer then my question is not answered.

Has nothing to do with being anol or an ass at all in my response.

I use a lot of mods and an installer is a must for me. Wrye Flash is the preferred method, but I'll settle for FOMM.

Happens that with this I found a bug with Wrye Flash and an issue with that mod - the two compounded each other confusing the issue.

Wrye flash is having issues with foreign language file names which the mod has.
That mod also has files set to read only which both Wrye and FOMM choked on.

Both are real issues that other users will have as well. I made reports all around - now all involved know how to fix if they want to.

anol ... tsk :glare:

Had no problems here. I used FOMM (don`t touch Wrye bash never will- too much hassle) with Ironsights overhaul. Got the FOV, sights and everything working perfectly. Did it through that package manager thing. Even found a way to get rid of the compass markers that it reintroduced over darnified.

By the way, I decided to try and used the Beauty Project again and this time got it working perfectly by using FWE (which adds patches for compatibilty), very nice mod. Doesn`t make the men look `beautiful` which is a relief, but ladies look pretty good.

Psych term, not an insult. Would you prefer Type A:P

Thing is, if everything else you have was installed using an installer -- then one oddball out isn't going to literally *kill* you. When you say "must" do you really mean "Must"?

I am a psychologist - I get your attempt at clean up humor. Albeit with references to the least clean.

You could say http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1084204-bain-mod-installation-projects/; however, attempts to anolyze my desire for things to be organized with regard to a game (set of games) that can be excessively complicated are missing the point.

It is not me that would get killed but rather my game install. Now if we can lay aside the personal characterizations for a second let me explain.

All of my install is installed with BAIN - which means that I can open BAIN up at any moment and look and see visually what files from what mod are being overwritten by what other mod or what it is underwriting. Now if you run very few mods you might think "oh wow - big deal." But if you run a lot of mods and have ever been through the whole 'What the hell happened to my game - maybe I should reinstall." I've been through that a few times and was fortunate enough to be there an help test and use BAIN when it first got implemented. BAIN is far superior to mod manager in several areas. I quote from my own thread on that:
  • BAIN encourages thinking about what a manual install is and how things work 'under the hood.'
  • BAIN offers precise control of files and gives sensible conflict reports and control options of resolving those conflicts.
  • BAIN gives us the ability to manage install order - a term anologous to load order with regard to esm/esp files.
  • BAIN Provides detailed reports of what it installs and can tell you if what was installed has changed, been overwritten, is missing, or even if a file was not installed.
  • BAIN requires no special OMOD files and can work with 7zip, rar and other common archiving methods (7zip being the recommended though), as well as, regular file folders (projects).
  • BAIN offers the ability to create your own packages that can include any number of mods with the limit being only what you can manage to create with file directory juggling.

While FOMM does offer more features with regard to file management it still is not up to par with BAIN in this regard (just as FO3edit merged patch is not up to par with the bashed patch). IN fact the things that still make the OBMM viable can not be said to be true for FOMM. There are hardly any shader mods for Fallouts and to my best knowledge there is only one FOSE plugin (FOSR) that could benefit from it. Meanwhile Oblivion has http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=950703&hl.

Now before you respond with accusations of my humorless approach to a reply with hints that perhaps again I have issues with retention of feces - let me drive this point home for you.

I use a lot of mods:

As such the more I can see what mods are overwriting what other mods -then the more I stay on top of how to manage that many mods. If I have 5-7 weapon tweaking mods that are installed via BAIN then one that is not due to being either installed manually or with FOMM then it really kind of undermines all the previous carefully packaged mods. Because suddenly all these data files that are being tracked automatically are returned to black box installing. Then say I want to add more mods later.

I earned these stars pretty much exclusively on the mods forums - I've had to debug load orders that are nearly always pushing the limit. I've learned how not to have threads like http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1165887-what-might-cause-this/, or undercover help me threads like http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1165392-what-if-your-merged-patch-is-what-is-causing-the-crash/.

Ah... Bain.

Bain to me is much like Bane itself. And never tell anyone you`re a psychologist.

Just j\king. Why not just manually install the files this time round?

No, no, and no.

Again - by installing manually a mod that will overwrite several of the mods I have installed with BAIN completely undermines the reason for using BAIN. So no thanks.

I have a stable game with over 250 mods - made stable by use of this tool. Why throw a monkey wrench in it?

BAIN is no BANE - it is not that hard to use at all. I may be biased though having been the first to write a manual for it.

The reaction most people give when being told they are talking to a shrink is either to slink off in avoidance or throw up their personal issues. I, of course, prefer neither response, but seeing psych terms used like that is kind of like what happens when a tech minded person talks to someone who then responds to them by saying 'So what kind of apple mac do you have?'

Ah, well, I have a daughter studying criminal psychology and she`s doing a good job of annoying me when using me as her psycho-anolysis training tool! Those staring eyes, the questions, that condescending attitude... :hubbahubba:

annnndddd still coming off as sorta anol.

Never heard of bain b4 this, sounds interesting. I'm at a point where I don't need it luckily enough. It might have helped me had I used it from the start, perhaps there would still be a few mods I wouldn't have thrown out the window I should say. But I can't recall ever throwing out a mod I couldn't live without! I figure that some conflicts involve conflicts between just two mods... so I double-troubleshoot so to speak. I find the mod that causes trouble and then I load up with just that mod until I find the mod that causes trouble with it, and then pick between the two which I would prefer to keep. I've been lucky enough, and perhaps particular enough in my mod selection to begin with, to not have to lose out on any mods I truly loved... sometimes I miss out on a quest mod here and there. Nightmare realm I believe caused troubles with MMM during a script that caused all items to be removed, that one could have been avoided I figured out later on when MMM caused the same problem with Zeta --- but again, just one lone quest mod. I'll live.

I STILL want to have a quick-fix for the merged patch question I had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please help:)

Oh wait, you already told me there wasn't a quick fix for that one. Guess you already did answer it, thanks again. I find asking for help efficient at times --derp!

Nice.

Look I've already told ya why and how come. If you want to persist in using mods that are problematic - your choice. If you don't want to use the better tool (that only costs the price of the time to learn it) - your choice, if you want to snipe at people who are here to give knowledge - again your choice. All choices have consequences.

Just hearing about all these mods, while still waiting for my game to arrive from Amazon, is driving me bonkers!

Here is my plan...when I get the game, I will play WITHOUT MODS except for maybe one that changes to font to a smaller type, MMM, and maybe a few radio station song increasings.

But nothing else that changes anything.

It's your choice to take it as a snipe, but I didn't intend it as such because I don't believe there's something inherently wrong with being a lil anol now and again.. I personally believe both anol and otherwise people should live in peace and harmony. Both have advantages and disadvantages... depending upon the circumstances! I love eeeeevvvverrryoneee,

If you were being particularly laid-back in a situation in which laidbackness wasn't called for, I'd have said "no need to be so laid-back" instead of "no need to be so anol". It's not a snipe on your personal character, I think either type of person is welcome -- but like I said -- just depends upon the situation. I think it is pretty humorous for that very fact. It can't be a personal insult in my mind, because there's nothing wrong with being organized! Maybe due to your profession you read a bit more into the word than I expected the average person would, and although I said it was a psych term and that I meant it in the psych sense of the word... I didn't really mean the "open up a psychology text-book" and diagnose yourself sense of the word. Oh well, difficult to explain in writing -- but you'll just have to take my word for it. I don't have a problem with you or your personal character. Given the fact that I didn't know about BAIN, and that I don't consider the phrase I used as insultin.. cuz if someone said it to me i wouldn't take it as an insult, and we gotta view the world through the lens in which we see... i'll call that projecting but that's not the exact text-book definition of the word either, maybe inverse-projecting which is probably a paradox lol. ramblinggggg....

So yah, but the fact that I wouldn't consider that sniping and you would is sort of still leaning more towards the anol side. If that's you, that's fine -- nothing wrong with being a lil more serious or w/e. I prefer to not get insulted because then heyyyy I'm happier more of the time that way:P!

But I do not like hurting peoples feelings either or you know, however being "sniped" makes you feel -- I figure it must make you feel something or you wouldn't have mentioned it, so I'm writing all of this to try and take the time to apologize to ya. I sometimes am so easy-going I forget that other people have perfectly legit reasons to get upset at things I write. I don't really upset people in personnnn, just writing makes things sort of difficult to convey... like if I saw you in person I'd have said "don't be so anol" in a soothing yet joking tone of voice, soft undertones, obviously not insulting tone of voice. Like someone might say "Ohhhh don't worry about that"

Ho hummmmmm. So ya like, hope you enjoyed reaadding this!

Ohh look an amateur goat herder - looking to collect goats no less.

Soo laid back as I casually sling yet more psych insults ... projection ... hurt feelings. Presume much? Some use emoticons to convey that when they say things like ... don't be so anol  - so that it does not come off like an attempt at insulting. I'm not big on emoticons either - having learned to type on a typewriter.

Really it comes down to you make a snipe then I call you on it and now you assume that I have a hurt backside and then you take an air of detachment. You can't know what people are like or what they really mean by just their words on an anonymous forum. You can assume all you like - but assumptions aside - I'm not addressing you on what I think you wrote, but on what you wrote.

Since you can't tell what a person is really thinking or what they are really like then why persist? Unless yeah you do want my goat. If an approach is not read as being welcome and yet is persisted upon then what would you read about that?

That is why I directed the conversation back to the reason why and the subject at hand ... and will do so again. Because BAIN advantages far outweigh the disadvantages and manual install is emphasizing the disadvantages.

I'd asked if you or anyone had success at installing the beta of that mod with an installer. So you didn't even need to answer. Not the alpha not a previous version - the beta. Looking at the comments I see I'm not the only one who has issues.

You need to stop thinking so hard, Psymon. relax, stop seeing offence where there`s none. We were trying to help and have the odd joke (at least I was), sorry we`re failed. Hope you find the solution to your FallOut 3 problem.
