You're perfectly normal.. and if you're not, at least we're both as sad as each other.

@Pangscar and @Demane Thank you, I think I need a new mouse :) I'm assuming middle mouse button is unbound. Ideally I would prefer a keyboard button but found it difficult to find an unbound key that's not used for something I would use often that is close to the W,A,S,D keys...I suppose I could switch something I use less often.

Don't expect it to be perfect and take your time, end result will be all that much better. That's one advice for myself for launch.

In the newest build I think middle mouse is bound to camera pan when you hold it down and move it the mouse. Might have to move around some binds if you want to use that feature or other features that are bound. Main thing though is binding it to something thats easy to access, which is why i use a mouse button. I have a Razer Naga so i do have plenty to choose from.

This, craft from the start even if you dont want to spend your points in it, at the beginning its alsmost free and cheaper than buying.

Also loot, especially the plain inconspicuous containter, old leather bags in tents in the middle of nowhere and the like. There is rare stuff to be found sometimes.

Play Skyrim instead.

1. its more open, you are not limited to small regions to your level. an enemy of level 8 will not kill your level 3 in 2 hits. yes there are giants and mammoths but they can be avoided. there arent whole sections of bests or men that are leagues ahead of you.

2. enemies are scaled to your level. this can be accomplished in an mmo and its technical to much so to explain here cuz it would be lost on most. however it can still function like skyrim does with its radiant ai and enemy levels.

3. the quests dont feel daunting. except the repeatable radiant quests. i felt like the quests in the beta were too focused and to closed. i want to go off and find a dagger that is a quest item that cant be removed from my inventory cuz i havent seen that quest for 150hrs of gameplay. all cuz i stumbled upon this dagger in a cave, in another province where if i had been following the quest line i wouldnt have reached till hours later.

4. interactions are quicker and more responsive. aside from lame tracker combat that eliminate the use of dodging beinhd rocks etc to block attacks. dodging was added and uses staimna. which is great if it were slow as hell. anyone play UT in the last . . . forever? that dodge works great. opening doors and crates and sacks ALL snails pace. maybe they are doing all this so people dont rush through the game in a month. but it's lame. it took me 3 weeks to go through 70% of skyrim. this is tamriel so it should be skyrim x 9. ntm I want to make another character and play skyrim through again. 3x9x2 is ? anyone? 54 thats a years worth. and more than they can hope out of a casual player.

5. exciting. skyrim is exciting eso is not. dont say cuz its a beta this beta was stress and everything in it is very indicitive of how the game will play in two weeks. I played for 3 hours yesterday and felt drained. not only were half my quests completed before i got there, the half that werent were such a level that it was impossible for me as a solo player to accomplish them. that doesnt mean they can be made for groups, to encourage group play. borderlands increases the difficulty with more players in your group, same can be done here; but isnt. I played skyrim for a lot longer and never felt that drained. i wanted to keep going.

With the server culling of multiple people not being visible it is possible to mostly eliminate other players outside towns/cities inside PvE areas. which can fix the quests being finished before hand.

Don't get too excited and have lowest expectations possible about every aspect of the launch so you will be pleasantly surprsied by everthing!

My advice....

Get your 10-15 favourite names and put them on notepad and get ready to pounce to get what you can.... also, after you do go to BED! because if you then attempt to make your toon taking the time necessary to do so there is a good chance your name will be gone by the time you hit Ready to Rock, get some sleep dreaming about your name(s) and then get up and make your toon with a much better chance to keep your name and avoid all the stress that goes along with the first hours of launch.

:)

My advice is similar to lots above with a few additions.

I am in zero hurry to level and intend to take my time and explore (I couldn't care less if I haven't reached close to 50 this time next year).

1) In Coldharbour Prison, don't rush to get out, you can find a lot of lockpicks etc in all the urns
2) If like me you love crafting, it's well worth investing early a point into keen eye for Blacksmithing, Clothing and woodworking
3) Find a good guild before release date, (I put a post on Tamriel Foundry forums guild recruitment section saying what I was looking for in a guild and was pleasantly surprised how many responses I got, and am now a proud member of Stout n Sturdy (full of oldies like me that like to grumble)
4) Don't skip the starter island, for me it really helps with the story plus there's a lot of recipes etc to be found in various wardrobes/desks etc
5) Don't book time off work for release date, it could go 100% fine but if it does, it will be a first in the mmo world
6) Things that initially seem odd/missing (AH etc) give it time, you may grow to love the system once you've experienced it properly
7) Play how you want to play, use what skills you want to use, equip your character with what you feel is fun, don't let other players try to bully you into building or playing your character in a way you don#t really want to.
8) Take the time to read/listen to what the NPCs and the various books say.

oh, one more, falling off the top of a light house will kill you

Read the quest stories... learn my class and abilities as best as I can. Harvest all resources I come across and craft! I tend to rush through things, but I want to change that with this game. I want to learn the lore, and read the books i come across. I also need to not die so much.... i didn't play at all yesterday because I kept dying, on easy stuff it seemed. I went fishing instead.

  1. Patience, have lots and lots of Patience!
  2. Don't rush, I get caught up in the "rat race" and fell like I need to hurry because everyone around me it, well.....don't!
  3. Expect bugs, expect lag but hope for flawless launch.
  4. Create 2nd tab for your group and guild, no one else.
  5. Ignore zone chat, imagine it is like poison that is infectious if you even look at it.
  6. Take your time on making your character because you will be looking at it for the duration of the game.
  7. And last but not least, just have fun, it is a game after all! :)

I'm just going to play.

It's sad when people wont let go of the old mmo ways and enjoy this game.

Hopefully with the lack of players who were on beta due to the vast beta key give away that no intention of actually playing when it goes live, zone chat wont be as bad as it was.

1.Make heavy use of the ignore function.

Zone chat never was nice to read, but last weekend was the worst experience in a long time. So many players who mistook "EU-Server" for the green light to spam their native tongues all over the chat - in addition to the usual BS.
Even friendly attempts of numerous brave guys to steer all more polite waters, or hints of the existence of specific language chats was futile. The ignorance burst and it was less than a minute before the famous nazi comparisons started (altough, granted, some of them were quite witty).

I really don't understand why the devs went through all the effort to create such a pro-immersion game, ate a lot of [censored] for lack of classic options like minimaps ect., but left the chat unpolished...
