Your playstyle

How did you play New Vegas? What was your character like, how did you engage problems

I played as a cold blooded sniper mostly. A lone wolf who would try to make every shot count. I would take only the things i really need to and try to survive as long as possible without going back home.

Gender: Male
Playstyle: Sniper
Karma: Very Good
Reputation: Idolized
Fraction: Independent
Favored weapon and armor: Merc adventurer armor, Black Combat Armor w/ Scope hunting rifle or Anti-materiel rifle

So what was your courier like? Any suggestions or inspiring character creations for another playthrough?

My first character did it mainly with Speech and Barter, and neutral karma through a combination of multiple grand larceny and good deeds. Hunting shotgun for fighting but honestly Speech and Barter at 100 is more useful than any weapon. With this character I rushed the main quest and ignored many side quests.

My second character was a sniper with Guns (silenced weapons only), Repair, Survival and Sneak but little in the way of Speech. I explored the better part of the map with this one, wound up with good karma, tried to not offend many factions with the exception of the Legion who I killed on sight.

The most important,
CHANGE
As water has no constant form, there are in war no constant conditions. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War. c.400-320 b.c.

It does matter,
DECEPTION
All warfare is based on deception. Therefore, when capable, feign incapacity; when active, inactivity. When near, make it appear that you are far away; When far away that you are near. Offer the enemy a bait to lure him; feign disorder and strike him. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War. c.400-320 b.c.

When all else fails,
FIGHTING
To fight and conquer in all our battles is not the supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistence without fighting. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War, c.400-320 b.c.

Never waste resources,
POWER
In war, numbers alone confer no advantage. Do not advance relying on sheer military power. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War. c.400-320 B.C.

One last note...
Be quiet. They won't notice you ;)
Cheers!

Know them is to beat them,
PROVOCATION
Agitate him and ascertain the pattern of his movement. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War. c.400-320 b.c.

Who could trace the borders of shadow,
STRATEGY
When campaigning, be swift as the wind; in leisurely march, majestic as the forest; in raiding and plundering, like fire; in standing, firm as the mountains. As unfathomable as the clouds, move like a thunderbolt. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War. c.400-320 b.c.

EDIT. P.S:
When in doubt, offer them a (easy) way out. Lay mines beforehand...
EDIT #2. P.P.S. (that's post-post-scriptum, for the latin impaired). If you didn't guess already, my style of play is sort of like the diplomat, with a .308 silenced sniper rifle at hands just to keep going when talks is over.

I always play 'nerd' characters with high charisma so I don't miss any options. And I enjoy Independent playthroughs the most - because player choice is king!

With 100 speech and 100 guns I would take out targets with an AMR at long range. Dinner Bell when something got a little to close. I would access more personal information with speech. I was a male started out with no beard but slowly added a rough beard and then the survivalist beard and some age to have some fun. Used the Van Graff combat armor until I got the Desert Ranger combat armor.

I see that I missed part of your question here.

My suggestion for another playthrough is to pick a faction early on (an off-beat faction like the Khans is fun) and wear their armor for the remainder of the playthrough. It closes off some options but makes things pretty interesting.
