Your thoughts on something from The Infernal City

So, did anyone else get the vibe that maybe Sul is the Nerevarine? It would be really cool if he were. I mean, where is Morrowind's greatest hero while it's being destroyed? Thoughts?

Unless I'm mistaken, the passage from http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/sevenvisions.shtml that follows...

Neither Blight nor age can harm him
The Curse-of-flesh before him flies

Suggests he does not age. I may be interpreting it incorrectly.

Your hypothesis is an interesting one, but I do not find it likely. However, I don't have any strong evidence to disprove it, so it is possible.

Akavir, it is rumored.

An interesting idea. However, the Nerevarine does not age, and Sul does. Also, Sul seems to have grown up in Morrowind. Another hitch is that the Nerevarine was gone before Oblivion, and while being lost in Azura's realm would make sense, the timeline doesn't work. There are a few things there to say that he could be, but I personally doubt it.

the identity of the Nerevarine is unknown and unknowable. I suppose he could be your version of the Nerevarine, but he is not the Nerevarine.

Perhaps if Sul is the Nerevarine, age CANNOT HARM HIM. Doesn't necessarily mean he can't. Quite possible that he simply can't die of age.

As for his being raised in Morrowind, perhaps that is Nerevar's memories confusing him. Or perhaps he's simply lying to keep things simple.

I thought I read that it was suspected that the Oblivion Crisis was triggered by the Akaviri. Maybe when he went there he entered an Oblivion gate, thus paralleling him to Sul. Perhaps he got wind of what the Akaviri were up to, and went to prevent them.

Sul also mentioned having been captured by Hircine before, just like the Nerevarine.

Honestly, I doubt Bethesda would back themselves into a corner by having a "canon" race, six, and identity for the Nerevarine. Just look at the outcry agains Lucas for making declarations on the identity of Darth Revan from KOTOR. A fun possibility, and I will personally believe this unless future games or novels disprove it. It WOULD be a great story element, a nice twist for a future story. I mean, so many are angry that Morrowind, which we are all attached to, was ravaged so badly. I think most are just as attached to the Nerevarine, and I personally hated seeing him replaced by a rather generic hero in Oblivion.

If Sul is the Nerevarine, who was the guy we were playing as in Morrowind? :P

As has been said, in your TES world, he could be your Nerevarine. Him going to Akavir was only a rumor.

Sul was captured by Hircine when escaping from Clavicus Vile's realm.... which was a completely different circumstance from what happened to the Nerevarine, who wasn't even in Hircine's realm.

He's pretty old, in his 100s I think. Or was it 200s? Stupid dunmer mages, and their life expectancy.

I don't think his age is given, but it's implied he's old.
