I found that Gentleman's bar just this morning - disappointingly small, but I do love those little areas that exist just to give an isolated story.
Still, over 200 hours in on my main character and I haven't found the other two!
The Race track, sadly you cannot gamble on the robots.
Just from a well made and simple but cleverly made location / experience was for me: Thicket Excavations.
First time around you plug some leaks and you know that there is more to be done here.
Second time around either by preston sending you there or as it where in my case, very late in the game i remembered to go back and check.
And i got a very nice surprise =)
Dunwitch Excavation- spooky , Glowing sea- postapocalyptyc feeling , Parsons state insane asylum- remind of Outlast
Glowing Sea, Spectacle Island, and
Dunwich Borers has been my favorite location so far.
Others of note was the mayor shelter, and that site in the glowing sea (it was massive) a lot larger than I initially thought.
in no particular order
starlight drive in such a wide relative open sand box to build your perfect settlement
the roof of any high building in downtown boston forthe views
boston ruines at night i love stalking supermutant and raiderr prey at night
trding on a vertbird , the views
the castle because it felt like a great archiement
Museum of Witchcraft
The Glowing Sea
Supder Duper Mart
All of them gave me a great experience in their own way. All very (in)tense!
Museum of Witchcraft! So very well done... (and usually I don't like scary locations! lol)
Cambridge Polymer Labs - I like the moments when you are being treated like it's business as usual and the war never happened. Time stood still for some of the Mr/Mrs Handy that are still around.
Yangtze - pretty cool location and story. Love the whole dialogue there.
The U.S.S. Constitution! Love old sailing vessels!
Pickman's gallery was great, too. There are so many small and large locations that are so very well done in this game.
An unmarked parking garage that has been turned into a gauntlet of death.
Or Fallon's department store, with all the escalators and stuff.
I could go on and on.
So many great locations to choose from, but here's the three I came up with:
1) Spectacle Island (the biggest settlement location in the game)
2) The Institute (Aesthetically only, as there's really not that much to see of action)
3) East City Down - a robot racing track (featuring a lot of robots with ridiculous names, like The Boston Blaster, Iron Maiden, Piece O' Junk, etc)
Pickman's Gallery is probably my favorite so far. I wish the whole game had that kind of atmosphere.
Glowing Sea was kinda neat on first visit, but I lost interest really quickly. They could've done a bit more with that.
Moving around downtown is cool too.
Although in Fo4's defense, the vaults in Fo3 almost felt like a gimmick. Like someone wanted to add something goofy and insane just for the heck of it. FNV was better, and Fo4's vaults have very believable experiments. Honestly, my complaint is that there are so few of them in Fo4 - and we miss out heavily on the "typical" vault feel in 3 of them.
Vault 111, 81, and 114 are a very tame, leaving only two other vaults that are done "proper".
Anyways, on topic: Trinity Tower (love the vertical level design in this game), the nuclear cache in the glowing sea, and the USS Constitution.
My favorite place is my 6th floor penthouse on the top of the overpass at Finch Farm.
I made it without walls, just railings for safety, so I can enjoy the 360 degree view both night and day. It is truly fantastic.
My second favorite place is .... any place I haven't been yet. I really love exploring a new place.
