- FEAR (sue me)

Hey, everything was good up until FEAR 2's creepy ending. :P FEAR was the first game I got when I built my first gaming PC. Was one of the harder games to run, it ate my poor GeForce 6800 alive.

Not sure I like where they're taking FEAR 3 though.

Haha, yeah. That ending was definitely a "O.o what?" ending. I played it with a GT8800. Now that I have a GTX470 and a quad-core, I might go back and bump the graphics up (also, I haven't had a good scare in a while). I haven't kept up much with FEAR 3, but I'm interested to see how everything gets implemented.

The Legend of Zelda
The Elder Scrolls
Fire Emblem
Final Fantasy
Mass Effect

Can't really rank them against each other, but I did put them in order of which ones I've been a fan of the longest.

5. Mass Effect (All the games were enjoyable-- more than I can say for TES or Fallout)
4. TES
3. Baldur's Gate (I don't really like it that much, but it's one of the few game series I've played)
2. Fallout (I want it to be #1, but the whole series is just not of that caliber)
1. ??? (can't think of anything)

A lot of games I like didn't have sequels or prequels, or did, but I didn't play them or they svcked.

I've always wanted to try Yakuza, do you need to play all the games in the series to know the story, or could I start with 3?

While it helps to play the past games, Yakuza 3 start with an indepth explaination of what happened with the past games. Yakuza 2 started with this too, and I assume the upcoming Yakuza 4 will too.

I think FEAR is my favorite FPS of the past decade. But FEAR2 was a disappointment for me and I don't care about the upcoming FEAR3. It's unfortunate that the series took for a turn I don't like, when the first game was so good.

Diablo
Dungeon Keeper
Caesar city-building
Might & Magic rpg series (not the RTS) (6-8)

...um...can't think of a 5th. Maybe Doom, because it was one of the first pc-games I played.

Most game series tho, I'll love one of them (or at least I'll play it for a long while) but then I never get far/that into the rest. I'm a one-game-per-series person I guess. Sequels/trilogies/whatever for all entertainment fills me with the been there done syndrome.

Caesar city-building

I never played Caesar original or Caesar 2. 3 was the one I played, that and Pharaoh. Were the other good?

The Elder Scrolls- it doesnt get anymore complete in immersion and escapism then this. Closest thing to saying a wish and playing it.

Warhammer 40k- All the way from Final Liberation and Chaos Gate to the current Dawn Of War games it always delievers the goods with graphics and gameplay.

Supreme Commander- Loved the highly detailed 2006 original and its expansion aswell as the faster lethal 2009 sequal.

F.E.A.R.- I was amazed and still am at the gritty realism of the 2006 release with its lifelike ai. The sequal also delievers on the spook factor and tension with that classic Monolith signature.

Painkiller- Its like jumping into every horror movie ever made and loving the terror. I have not had this much fun since playing BLOOD in the 1990s.

Other honorable mentions are DOOM, Dragon Age Origins, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Civilization. I would mentioin Fallout 3 but there are no other games in the series so it stands alone in spectacularness :D

  • The Legend Of Zelda
  • The Elder Scrolls
  • Fallout
  • Mass Effect
  • Donkey Kong Country

The last three aren't really that solid though, just series I like at the moment. Zelda, and Elder Scrolls will always remain at the top for me though.
