Your Top 10 House mods!

Post » Tue May 04, 2010 8:59 am

Don't have a top ten, but I have a top 7:

Pearl Palace
Xenterra Keep
Solstheim Castle
Ascadian Rose Cottage
Seaside Cottage
Steinthor Manor
Seaside Cottage

As you can see, I refuse to live in a home not made by Korana just like I refuse to play with a face not made by Westly. :P

What no http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=3408 ?

That's more than 10 right there! ^_^ I usually use one or more of those while I'm first playing a character, then make them something personalized when they're more famous/wealthy. Just something to keep me immersed when playing :)

my problems with houses are three things:

1. most of them are far too big, like darklings home.

2. most of them are multicells, which i think is not nessessary (spelled right? sorry if not.)

3. too much loot, or a trader with 100,000 gold, or something else overpowered.

so i make houses on my own. my favorite ones are in caldera, sadrith mora an ebonyheart (ebonheart?).

the one i liked most and has all features i liked is a http://www.morrowind.hierher.net/index.html?pro_l.html (german mod). but i think it doesn't fit into balmora, so i don't use it.

My favorite housemod: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3297. Based on a VTMasquerade/Nosferatu style apartment, it has just the right amount of storage, has a functional basemant, a working gramaphone with music I can play, it has atmosphere. Best yet, the mode of transport to the house is a teleport key that I don't have to equip. I'm particular about these things. It's very much a home for an assassin, given it's proximity to the Morag Tong.

My other 9 favorites have already been listed.

Don't forget the excellent "Ravenloft" or it's smaller sister mod, "Secret Hideout"

Ravenloft is indeed a awesome house mod, personaly i like the older version better then the new one but
version 5 is awesome as well. The older version can found here just in case some one is interested. :)

I also really like the House mods from Spokorni.

At the risk of sounding narcissistic and conceited, I rather think my own house mods are pretty nice.

Ravenloft is very well designed, although not very lore-friendly. Abu Manor is a nice, simple, practical one too.

Any house made by Korana, I coudn't say which one I like the most, each of them has a special feature that is quite unique.

Seriously, check them out http://korana.elricm.com/Housing.htm ;)

Off-Topic, but whenever i try to go on Korana at Elcrim on google chrome i get a warning saying that site could give me malware. Anyone else get that problem?

From Korana:
In other news- google marked my site as dangerous. I've requested a review...but in the meantime I promise you there's nothing bad there. One person got a trojan warning, but it's a false positive related to some file that the admin have hidden away from even me. Obviously it needs it's code checked out. Nothing bad is going to bite you if you stop by, promise. Although there's not much to see.

Oh thanks Pluto, i'll just ignore it then.

Also, forgot about this http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7084. Very useful for my low-level chars, plus i love Dwemer architecture.

....and I'm quite amazed that none of Spok's other marvelous mods haven't been mentioned either.
I guess I must be one of the few who like keep/castle type homes.

Princess Stomper's Homes to Let. I like this one because:

- They are mostly modest homes, similar to what NPCs live in. You feel like just another character in the world.
- They nevertheless have some neat little design ideas
- They cost
- They're simple; no fancy scripted machinery
- Thumbs up for atmosphere
- A good selection of houses in a number of different towns and styles
- Pretty smart locations, don't have to worry about conflicts

Actually out of nearly 200 mods, this is the only house mod on my list...

My favorite home in Homes to Let is the Dagon Fel Dwemer home. That place rocks.

I picked up a recently released mod called Houses for Sale that I am really enjoying so far, though I haven't interacted with it to much. I did modify it slightly to have the homes a little less furnished since I also run GH Furniture mod as well. Assuming I am actually able to buy them when it comes time, it will be golden (otherwise I will figure out how to fix it). The homes also came at what I feel is a very reasonable cost considering the things I have done to the economy to make money harder to come by as I feel it should be.

Lots of great house mods mentioned so I'll just add two that haven't been:

Nicholiathan's http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=834249&hl=

Phaedrus' http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=7605

I'm very particular about houses and still haven't found one that is exactly what I want after all these years. In Oblivion I settled for the Wizard's Tower as soon as it was released and it has been the home for all my chars since then. In Morrowind I'm still looking really, so in practice I often have several ones at once, using Orrutus as the library etc.

BB, actually.

And that doesn't mean it's the best. I prefer some of Princess Stomper's small houses to the large Ravenloft.
