My current character fits my most common playstyle. She's a Healer, that is to say she's an unarmoured pure mage with quite a few RP restrictions.

Pure mages are my favourite characters to play, and Helena (my Healer) is my favourite ever character

That said, I do enjoy unarmoured thieves/assassins and light armoured stealthy ranger-types.

Hybrid Mage.
I like to challenge myself like having a mage whose use's restoration as his main form of attack. One of my favorites could only attack was though reflect spells

Breton Mage that uses two-handed swords and touch base spells. Kinda plays out like a Tamrielic Jedi Knight.

I usually play a Nord in your face type character, or a Wood Elf Archer. Have tried many different types, but tend to gravitate back to these two.

Ranged, even my mages used ranged almost all time, no restrictions on melee as Acadian use but prefer to keep enemy so far away at he can not hit me.
in melee I tend to go hyperviolent in the dagger with a spell stacking enchantment and often a paralyze poison kind of way :) Downside of this is that the blade skill level slowly.

I've tried to play every possible style the game allows, but I've never managed to make a sneaky character that doesn't use a bow. I just can't get the dagger in the back to do enough. Casting a weakness spell to assist a poison takes away the sneak bonus, nullifying that tactic, and when you haven't killed someone/thing with your sneak attack, you're right there in the thick of their response. Whatever they use as the second-line offense ends up becoming the primary, as they get better at that by using it more. It's also more difficult to sneak-attack a group of enemies, so some other method becomes primary when there's more than one involved.

Does anyone have a sneaky non-archer?

Pretty hard as you have to get decent at sneaking before you are able to backstab while anybody can do sneak attacks with a bow, now if your sneak is high it's pretty easy to sneak up on enemies in dungeons so the problem is mostly to get your sneak high enough.

Illusion helps here, interesting Illusion also has to be 50 or more to be real powerful as you get invisibility and chameleon and are able to cast effective command humanoid and creature

My favorite playstyle, which I am not using for my current game, is running. This means that when you dungeon dive your priority is to get the loot from the chests. If an enemy gets in your way then you knock them out of your way rather than bother fighting them until one is dead. Why waste time in combat when you can double your gain by zipping through the cells through swiftness of the Steed sign or running stealth? Scumbag blocking you? Run the other way around or paralyze them. Luckily you don't have OOO installed because that prevents you from picking locks while in combat. That will not do. You do not care how many foes, neither how strong or how many, because you will be in and out of the dungeon and they can do nothing but take a few shots at you as you fly past them and will eat your dust by the time you are done. Oblivion gates a problem? Not for two minutes of your time to get to the sigil stone.

Yeah, I've used that sometimes and it works if your speed is up to it. Also I've noticed with Oscuro's mod many things change; I could cast an "Open all doors" custom-crafted spell but now it requires an alteration of 100, so the running tactic isn't so effective if you're planning to sweep-and-leg-it.

I played a sneaky non-archer that did pretty well. Some caveats however:
Stealth Overhaul mod, Et in Arkay Spirtus mod (some magical gear you can get that really helps a stealthy "hammer" style).

Stealth Overhaul amplifies the benefits of stealth attacks, and makes Sneak more salient. It also makes it (much) harder to sneak with heavy armor.

Alchemy (poisons) and a powerfully enchanted shortsword helps.

Speed to get away when there is a group.

Wear some armor, get a grip of a light sword, put on some boots, and start sprinting at them and whack 'em out of commission.

If sneaky sneak calls, just get some deadly arrows and shoot 'em on the head

That's how I play :/

I'm currently an assassin-type. I usually play... assassin types. Aw.

Stealth, daggers, bows and arrows... That hot Dark Brotherhood armor.

I always have to have some element of stealth and range. That's just my natural playstyle.

That said, my current character that I am running is a tank mage. Heavy Armor and 2 handed swords, with Alteration and Mysticism magic for protection, and Conjuration magic for combat aid. Some Destruction magic tossed in for extra damage as well.

The role play that I'm doing is a warrior who's corrupted by magical power, and scours Aylied Ruins for Welkynd stones to quench his thirst for magical power (his birthsign of The Atronach limits his powers)

Am pretty much a melee fighter (blunt, blade, heavy armor) with either restoration/destruction as my main use of magic for a good character or conjuration for a more dark and perhaps evil character.

I used to play a Bosmer most of the time but for the past year its been mainly Orcs and Nords. I've also tooken up marksman to play a more non magical warrior type for long range combat situation especially when playing an Orc. I used to never use the marksman skill but it can be quite fun when hunting or going for a critical in sneak mode.

I guess my character is a sort of spellsword. Light armor, blade, offensive and defensive magic. I have a posse 6 that I have to herd like kittens... I tried to group more npcs but my computer starts to stutter in certain locations of towns when over 6.

I always make two character.
Kush Vicieux: My Warrior or Assassin character
Dante Xavier: My Mage character.

I love to roleplay with them :)

And once I complete those two characters, I create my vampire character: Ville Vicieux.

Speed is the defining characteristic of my playstyle, as well. I take Thief or Steed as birthsign, and play long-legged Argonians. With OOO Steed also boosts your stamina regen, which is nice. Right from level 1 you can outrun pretty much anything but mountain lions. Sometimes I play a hit-and run sword swinger with a long-reach weapon, but usually an archer. Depending on the terrain, you can simply jump right over baddies and keep going.

I stopped using spells, period. No healing spells, no night-eye, nothing. It's a roleplaying touch I guess, and the restriction makes the game more fun. I still make occasional use of scrolls that I find, and I'm sure to level up alchemy at least a bit for poisons etc.
