Or do I break a major traditional RPG rule? xD I've had like 4 player based characters. (I enjoyed them a lot.)
I have heard of people doing that sort of thing. I have never had any inclination to myself.
I read the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant as a youth, so I guess if you were going to do something like that then the White Gold Wielder may be some inspiration for how that would feel, since he was cured of leprosy and his wedding ring possessed magical powers in the fantasy land he woke up in. Similarly, you'd have to explain how come you found yourself in a body of an Orc, Khajiit, elf, or whatever race you chose and how you were able to cast magical spells and do other things that you could not do in real life.
Personally I don't think "playing as yourself" is roleplaying. But it might be interesting once, as an experiment.
I prefer not to. I enter a fictional world in order to escape and live another life, not to live my life
Placing yourself in the shoes or assuming the role of the player character is the very definition of roleplaying. I think most people do this in their first run of any RPG.
I think I'd just end up going around touching fluffy tails and nibbling elf ears. It wouldn't be much of a game.
Yeah, I do this. I want to be in these kinds of worlds. I want to go on adventures and travel and be a hero in real life, but alas I cannot so I channel it through elder scrolls games.
I'd rather make up new adventures, not try to RP myself. I can do that any day of the week. I suppose I can RP other characters any day of the week, but still.
