[RELz] Zealotlee's ACR

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:39 am

Get it at http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11611

Name: ACR: Adaptive Combat Rifle
Version: 1.0
Date: 03/10/10
Author: Zealotlee

Description:
************

Adds an ACR Assault Rifle with many variants to the game. With FOSE installed the player can find various modification kits that can change the barrel of the gun, the optics, or add a silencer. All of these modifications can be changed on-the-fly without use of a workbench! There are also some hidden camoflauge packages for the gun to give them a unique appearance. Raiders, Outcasts, and Talon Company can be seen using the ACR as well as some other NPCs. Random upgrades as well as ACRs can be found at vendors.

Unfortunately there is no other way for the upgrade system to work without FOSE. If there is a high enough demand for a non-FOSE version I will do my best to make it.

Installation:
*************
1. Unzip all files to c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data
2. Open up Fallout Mod Manager and activate ZL-ACR.esp.
3. Play the game!

Uninstallation:
***************
Delete "ZL-ACR.esp" from the Data folder.
Delete the ACR folder from the Textures\Weapons directory.
Delete the ACR folder from the Meshes\Weapons directory.
Delete the folder "rifleACR" under the Sounds\fx\wpn directory.

History:
********
V 1.0: Initial Release

Possible Issues:
****************
This mod shouldn't conflict with anything that I know of. If it does, please let me know. The texture is also a bit high res, but it should run fine on most computers. As for the leveled lists, they are added to the vanilla lists by a script so there should be no conflicts with any other mods.

Licensing/Legal:
****************
Feel free to use this mod however you wish. Be sure to give me credit where credit is due, and do not upload this mod to any other sites. These files are not intended for commercial use and should not be used as such.

Thanks To:
**********
SteveDog- For HUGE help with the scripting and testing, most of the scripts were written by him.
HK- For the sounds
Pelinor- For the scope reticles
TwinkieMasta- For the ACOG Mesh and Texture
The Bethesda Fallout 3 Modding Forum

So there's still that bug with certain scope lenses not being reflective, which I'm still trying to figure out. Aside from that everything is in working order. Go try it out! If you want an immediate copy just go to Hamilton's Hideaway.

Excellent icon Zealotlee. Caught my eye, and helped seal the download.

EDIT: Did you happen to put an ACR in the player's home in Megaton, perchance? I don't know if that'll conflict with Better Megaton Storage.

Yeah I goofed, I included a much older version of the mod with the original download, sorry. There's a patch on FO3Nexus right now to fix that.

I just went through Hamilton's Hideaway (meant to go there anyway or GNR stash) and I couldn't find it! Can you pinpoint me to which room it is in?

You need to download the new patch. Currently it's using an old .esp that has neither the ACR in that location or even the upgrade system.

I updated the mod description with upgrade descriptions but here they are anyway.

Upgrade descriptions:

**BARRELS**
10.5" Barrel - Less accurate but has a high rate of fire
14.5" Barrel - More accurate but a slightly lower rate of fire
18" Barrel - Semi-automatic fire and very accurate

**OPTICS**
Iron Sights - Standard zoom, good for close quarters
ACOG Scope - Slightly increased zoom, good for medium distances
Sniper Scope - Largely increased zoom, good for long distances

**SILENCER**
Makes the weapon silent at the cost of a little reduced damage

The patch worked great. I was saved at Hamilton's so it was no biggie to do a quick recheck. So many choices, so little time. :celebration:

Alright glad that's fixed then, off to HH and fighting off Albino Radscorpions at level 28 in FWE! AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

But seriously, I'm making a .esp (that's dependent on the original) that tweaks the ACR and it's variations to be more in line with T3T_WT/FWE. I've only done the tweaks for the original black variations right now, no camos. But if you wanted me to send you the .esp so you could finish it and put it on your file page, I'd be cool with that. Let me know via PM.

Out of boredom I was thinking of making some replacement textures for the camoflauge (with the PSD I have it's a fairly simple process). They wouldn't be added in, but you could replace the acrDesert.dds, acrUrban.dds or the acrWood.dds and have different textures. It would still be referred to as Desert, Urban, and Woodland though. Anyway what are some camoflauges you might want to see?

Well hey, looks like I figured out how to make digital textures!
http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/7677/newcolorspreview01.jpg

I've been messing around with a few other color patterns like Fall Woodland, Arctic, Urban Red, Urban Blue and Urban Pink (yes lol). Would you like to see the digital colors replace the default color schemes? Or would you rather just download an optional texture pack and just put in the digital versions yourself? Also for each of the new patterns would you want a digital option as well?

This is probably the only non-lore gun mod I'd use so I had to do it. I'm not just a developer, I'm a user.

I've made some last minute adjustments for the next version, so I'll email it to Zealotee in a bit.

The .esp will be reliant on the original ZL-ACR.esp and the FWE.esm. The ACR when used as an Assault Rifle is better in quality that the Chinese AR. It'll be compatible with loot lists because it doesn't edit them directly, and you'll be able to repair it with other ACRs, Repair Parts, and Abraxo Cleaner.

Having just repathed all the textures for its integration into FOOK, I have to say that your ACR is one of the highest quality weapons I've seen, and I love how unlike every other real world weapon on the nexus/in FOOK, the scratches on the texture really make it look like it's seen some use, so kudos!
May I ask what's next on the list? Are you going to finish your M40 or work on something new?

I really should finish my M40 lol, considering I even have the scope textured now. I actually started working on the high-poly model for a http://www.spareammo.com/posters/mateba_357_magnum_440x255.jpg but I don't think I'm going to make a thread for that until I'm ready to show it :P.

I've been looking for a better replacement for the ACOG scope, something more fitting. Does anyone know of anything that would fit? I have no clue how to create the custom scope overlays myself.
