fishing...

look at WoW. kinda useless and the last thing you do if you're really really bored

Yes it was horrible in Wow but in FFXI it was amazing

You could catch very rare fish
You could improve your fishing rod
You could catch treasure
You could catch bottles with quests in them
You could be arrested for fishing with out a license
You could catch potions

What the game really needs if for the manly Nords to be able to do some Noodling (I think thats what its called) Like when those southern "gentleman" (lol) catch them catfish by getting them to chomp down on their hands....Only Nords would catch Slaughterfish...!

I have indeed done that before. I thank you for referring to me as gentleman, lol.

It wouldn't be hard, I think. Essentially it would work just like a pickaxe/ore vein scenario, except instead of only drawing one type of item from the source, you could get any kind of fish that was swimming in that particular body of water.

POINT: The programming is already there essentially, it just needs an animation.

Yeah in Oblivion there wasn't any of that. That's why i hope this time around a really decent mod will add it in. I mean people are thinking it's silly, but honestly I can see my hardcoe warrior taking time off from crushing skulls to enjoy the scenery on the many nice lakes and rivers and fish. That's not sarcasm either, I'd enjoy it.

You can do all of that in wow except be arrested. I mainly used fishing in wow to make gold. Just look at what fish is in demand on the AH fish for it, cook it, and sell it for a massive profit. So it kinda had a purpouse.

OT: I assume that Skyrim doesn't have fishing for the same reasons it doesn't have alot of features, such as spears, crossbows, throwing weapons, the armor system from morrowind, horse combat, good horses, good werewolves, and indepth marrige and friendship system, an economy, children of different races, spell making, the spells from the other TES games, weresharks, ect. Bethesda doesn't put in everything we want. Just about 3/4 of what we want. I'll just keep grabbing them outta the water.

Because Dragonborns are too badass to use fishing rods.

Yeah, but I'm talking about the fishing rod as a simple collection tool. I'm sorry, but I just don't think Skyrim needs a minigame. If you have that little to do in-game, you're not playing it right.

We have silverside perch, we have river betty, we have salmon, and yet we have to resort to bear like fishing methods?

I bet Skyrim wouldnt be tied with Zelda for GOTY if they had added a rod fishing system!

Actually it is the Mounted Combat on horse-back from Zelda: TP that makes me confused as to why TES hasn't followed suit.

PS: Fishing was very well done on the N64, and the fish can get huge in Ocarina of Time. My record was taller than Link himself and was three times fatter. I didn't do any extensive fishing in Twilight Princess, so I can't comment on that game.

Collection tool is fine, I just think I'd personally find time to fish, lol. Sometimes I stand for awhile and admire the scenery, etc.

Just equip a spear and poke around in the water.

...and by that I mean role play. Closest thing you have is a staff or something.

Personally, I love fishing mini games in games, sad it's not in this one.(Though I hate fishing in RL and also would never be interested in a dedicated fishing videogame, isn't that kind of weird?)

Sorry, Zelda > Elder Scrolls. Every version, every system.

Wow... no. So no.

And why does this thread complain about fishing taking less time than it could when it actually changes gameplay very little? I mean, if you had to use a pair of scissors to take plant samples and bring a bag to sort them into... way too much effort.

Which is almost what you have to do in Zelda. Want some fishing bait? Well, you'll have to use or release the fairy you have in your bottle (which could possibly save your life in the upcoming boss battle) because you have the only [censored] glass jar in the kingdom of hyrule.
