If Zelda: TP can have rod fishing in 2006

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 9:14 am

We have silverside perch, we have river betty, we have salmon, and yet we have to resort to bear like fishing methods?

I bet Skyrim wouldnt be tied with Zelda for GOTY if they had added a rod fishing system!

Dovahkiin is far too much of a bamf to use a puny fishing rod.

They really should have a way of playing cover two defense as well. It's been in video games since at least 1994.. WTF Bethesda you better add this in the next patch.

Breath of Fire had an in-depth fishing mini-game in the early 1990s. Fishing mini-games are a lot more popular in Japan than in the West, though, no doubt because Japan is an island nation; like most island nations, aquatic life and fishing are significant in their culture and cuisine.

But the true reason is that Skyrim is a manly game with beards, fistfights, snowy peaks, mammoths and mead. Real mountain men catch fish with their bare hands. They don't use dishonorable fishing poles like all those milk-drinkers from less manly provinces. (Actually, I've seen a few fishing rods lying around, but I'm sure those don't belong to any Nords.)

There is a rod and reel sitting on a dock right outside of stony creek cave, so its obviously not a technology problem.

Like CrimsonKnight said, Dovahkiin is just a BAMF. He doesn't need a rod.

Why would you want to simply press a button and do nothing but wait for a bobber to signal that you caught something, when you can just dive into the water and grab them fish with your bare hands? It's faster.

I like how they added fishing rods in the game that we can't actually use. :vaultboy:

You could smash pots & urns too. Why can't we do that in this game? I'm sicking of looting things and leaving them in tact like a common criminal. IMO, introducing wonton destruction would make this GOTY.

hahaha that was good that made me laugh out loud pretty good.

But on topic, i definitally agree that there should be some sort of fishing, especially if they made putting giant logs through the saw on the lumber mill and that doesnt actually even do anything (at least chopping wood gives you money)

The fishing in TP was horrid, Look at the fishing in OOT, that's some fishing for ya. Back in 1998 mind you. Yeah, Skyrim is kinda backwards in that aspect. OOT also features better horseriding than Skyrim, don't even get me started with TP. Kinda disappointing a 2011 game of the year candidate falls short on several aspects to a game that came out 14 years ago.

Because Link can't FUS RO DAH fish out of water.

Not that you can do that in Skyrim, but if we went into detail, Dovakiin can probably just clear out a river area by just FUS RO DAH.

Who wants to play an elf in a skirt and tights and yells like he's having an orgism excitement when you can play a REAL MAN who SHOUTS at fish to DEATH

Because it's not really fishing; you're just gathering resources/ingredients like anything else.
