Zenimax, please add Dueling before Launch

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:23 pm

The developers seriously need to add dueling to the game before launch. Dueling allows players to get accustomed to PvPing, is a great tool to test builds with friends, and helps prepare for the Alliance War. This may even help get the die-hard PvE players out of their comfort zone and help with the war effort. Dueling is absolutely required for the health and longevity of the game. With that said, there should be a few restrictions. First, there should be an option to auto-decline dueling requests for people not interested. Second, dueling should be available only in the PvE world (no dueling within cities) and keep Cyrodiil strictly the AvA zone. I would love to see dueling outside major cities as this is a great way to meet friends within ESO! Thoughts?

Yes please add duels, I mean I told my friend while we were playing

ME:"Duel me then"

FRIEND: "Ohh you can duel?"

ME:"Nope."

FRIEND: "Aww I just got excited."

inb4 people saying any game balanaces around duels, no one even suggest that on other mmos like wow or swtor, Like literally I have never seen someone say "Ohh your class can beat my class in a 1v1, Obviously your class is better and it has no relation to skill, ohh btw in pvp that matters is the mininum of 2v2, but still your class needs a nerf"

Duels let you spar, check out different rotations, and lets you try out different combos without being forced to try it in real time, where you can get punished if it doesn't work.

Also for the people saying "You will never be in a 1v1 battle anyways."

Last beta I ran into plenty 1v1 and 1v2 battles, people not contributing to the zerg are still doing something, such as ganking incoming reinforcements or sneaking to choke points Example bridge/walls.

While I agree that having duels in would be great and is sonething I want to see. It doesnt have to be before launch and it in no way will effect the health or longevity of the game.

Yes, this game needs duels.

Such a simple thing, and no downsides to it if you add a settings option to auto-decline.

I don't duel in MMO's, but that's just me. I do understand the positive benefits of dueling and I have no problem with it being included in the game, as long as there is an option to auto decline challenges. Otherwise it can be annoying.

I agree it might be nice if they add them but then again imagine the forums if the Build nr. 592 can`t kill Build nr. 874... it will be hell. They can`t balance everything but try and explain that to player Nr. 583544 who thinks his randomly made build should be able to kill anyone because he is a hero and all that....

This will only work if they NEVER listen to the people crying on the forums about this class and the other class.

The two reasons not to add duels that I have EVER seen on any forum have been "people will spam grief me with duel requests" and "if you add duels people will be crying about balance more". Both absolutely ridiculous for not including a dueling feature, though I do support auto decline options for parties, guild invites, trade requests, duels, etc.

I think this would add to the game world, provided both parties consented to the dual and everyone has the option to turn off invites to duals so if you don't care to dual you don't get spammed with invites..

Such a feature should not be added before launch. They should focus on fixing hard issues. Dueling is just a nice to have feature that can be delivered down the road.

As long as they can be turned off, why not indeed.

I hope that Zenimax will add the arena to the Imperial City. It would be cool to duel in the arena as the crowd cheers. And it would also be cool to duel within groups, group vs group.

I've never been one to duel, the challenges usually come from the younger players and don't interest me. I do understand, however, that any game that has PvP as a central element needs to provide a mechanism for testing one-on-one player combat, so dueling or arenas are probably mandatory. Just please gives us an option to auto-decline requests.

Add dueling/arena after launch.

Get the quests working correctly before launch. One quest that I was going to help someone with was broken for three different players who tried to do it. One or the other guardian would spawn, but not both. If you didn't have both, you couldn't finish the quest. Not a good thing. Soft reset, abandoning the quest, and the /help gamemaster couldn't fix it. I'd much rather have the quests working before friendly duelling is added.

This, think its months since the new features Window closed, current work is bug fixing and balance. A month after release and they start adding content

I 100% agree.

Dueling is pretty much an essential feature for me and it will drastically hurt the longevity of the game if it isn't included. I've been campaigning pretty hard for this on the Beta forums since I got in and my biggest frustration from this development team is that they've yet to even comment on it. At this point, I'd be happy with: "We're aware of the demand for this feature" or some equally vague statement. Its like they're pretending they have selective blindness/deafness and can't read/hear the word dueling.

On the PTS forum I've been able to get around this by setting up duels with people in other factions in Cyrodiil. But that only works because there are so few of us in the test. At live, there will be far to many players for that to be a possibility. And honestly, even that is a poor solution.

I want to duel my friends, not just my enemies. I want to role play. I want to crown a guild champion after having a guild dueling tournament.

I want all of the 10,000 great things that come from a fully implemented dueling system.

You have dueling now. It starts with a few alliance members making a circle, placing a fee and drawing pairs form a hat. Then it's 1v1 until... well, the winner goes the spoils. Not unlike a schoolyard rumble or a back alley fight club. That is essentially what we're talking about. Why do we need an in-game mechanic to do what we can already do on our own?

"Two men enter!

One man leaves!"

Have a major guild organize a tournament and send out notices a week ahead.
