Zero-weight items/equipping Guilbert Jemane.

Hello all,

I've just recently done 'The Siren's Deception' quest and gained a bunch of weightless clothing that I want to enchant and equip on Guilbert Jemane, who I'm exploiting (along with Reynald) as free labour/bodyguards. I have no problems equipping them with enchanted weapons (these work great by the way) but can't seem to get him to equip his enchanted clothing (Ernest's Best Shirt and Ernest's Fancy Pants with + 10 Strength/ Endurance enhantments, fyi). They go into his inventory alright, and you'd think he'd take off his Blue and Green Outfit and equip the new magic stuff that's just appeared there. But it's not working.

Here's what I've tried so far:

1) Reverse pickpocketing the stuff into inventory. (check)
2) Waiting three days (hasn't worked)
3) Sleeping three days (hasn't worked)
4) Fast-travelling to another location (hasn't worked)
5) Fast-travelling to another location AND sleeping/waiting three days (hasn't worked)
6) Fast- travelling to another location, telling the brothers to 'stay there', fast-travelling back to previous location, waiting and sleeping three days and then coming back (hasn't worked)
7) Engaging the brothers in combat, in the hopes this might provoke something in the AI to equip stuff (hasn't worked)

The UESP article doesn't suggest anything new:

I was just wondering if anyone else had tried this, and what they did to succesfully force the change. Thanks.

I suspect it's never going to happen. Probably the Jermane bros are hard-wired to wear their own duds. They *might* upgrade to armor if you use the bound armor glitch to give them some. Never tried.

I guess it's possible that they'd equip gear in alphabetical order after sleeping, but you'd have to try that before joining up with them. Maybe someone who knows exactly how it works will come along. :)

Have you tried pick-pocketing their original clothing so they have nothing left to wear but the enchanted clothes?

If you are on the PC, you can circumvent all these problems by just creating a small mod that changes their inventories. Or by using the CM Partner mod.

Unfortunately, I'm on the PS3 so can't use the console. It's a shame they didn't include a similar tool for the PS3/Xbox 360 versions, really, because as well as being cool to play with (I assume) there are a lot of bugs that occur which would make it really useful.

SubRosa, sadly I wouldn't be able to pickpocket the necessary items as they're wearing their B&G outfits, and don't sleep (as they're following me).
