Zombie Apocalypse RP idea

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:36 am

I don't know if this has been done before, but here's my take:

Year 4E32.
Divayth Fyr claims to have found the cure for corprus. Test subjects already infected with corprus show 100% improvement, becoming completely human in a matter of weeks. Tests on normal subjects (subjects without corprus) have shown the opposite effect; the subject transforms into a full-fledged corprus beast in a matter of days. Divayth Fyr decides to have the cure confined to his corprusarium.

Year 4E35
Divayth Fyr decides that one of his cured subjects, Mike, is ready to be released back into society. But Mike has bigger plans. When Divayth takes Mike to Balmora for release, Mike steals a bottle of the cure, taking it with him.

One week later
For unknown reasons, certain citizens of Balmora have shown signs of corprus, and the disease is rapidly spreading. Divayth Fyr attempts to give those who are infected the cure, but then finds that the disease has mutated, forming a new, more resistant strain. Fyr returns to his tower indefinitely, trying to find a cure for the new strain. All clues point to Mike as the culprit.

Year 4E38
All of Vvardenfell has been infected, the status of Divayth Fyr is unkown. The disease has spread to the mainland, and corprus beasts have destroyed Mournhold and killed all of its inhabitants, including King Helseth. The Horde now moves to the other provinces, the majority heading toward Cyrodiil...

You are an inhabitant of Cyrodiil, living in the area around Cheydinhal. Although you don't know it, the Corprus horde is nearly at your doorstep. Your goal is to survive. Work with the other RPers if you want, or play it alone.

Simple Rules:

1. No ubering. Don't try to kill 10,000 corprus beasts on your own. In fact, don't even try to kill 15. Most of them feel no pain and are very hard to kill. Mages can use fire for great effect against the beasts.
2. No character controlling
3. Everyone starts in or around Chorrol, no if, ands, or buts.
4. My word is law. Any disobedience, and I will kill/dismember/burn/eat your character alive.

Don't you hate it when people vote but don't post? I know I do...Anyway, the plot itself seems very similar to I Am Legend or Omega Man, whatever you want to call it which I've always wanted to do as an RP. But some more background information on how the Empire and other provinces have taken the destruction of Morrowind, the status that Cyrodiil is in would be nice. I mean, if you think about it, the Empire and other provinces would be keeping tabs on Morrowind, and having their King killed and all hell breaking loose would probably draw their interest, so I don't think it would be a matter of the infected showing up unexpectedly, but more they know they will eventually, but unsure where exactly. This could contribute to the Legions spread thin over the eastern front of the Empire, and someone could RP a Legionnaire in Chorrol but unable to get a message out because of the all the infected swarming the town. But that's just my take on it.

If you spruce if up a little I'll probably join, it seems interesting enough, I think you'll need some fairly dedicated RPers to keep it going. but then again I think this will draw alot of newbies too :P

Aulakauss loves a good apocalypse! I'm in.

I agree with pat that it needs a little more detail, but I'm still interested. I just need to pick an appropriate victi- err.. character.

I agree.
Although I despise the word newbie in every way.

I'll join. I'll speak to Samuro and see if he's down.

It's good to see a zombie/corpus/resident evil/ rp open up. It's been a while.

I think the last one I saw took place in Bruma.

This sounds like a great idea, but I think it is going to get repetitive over and over. Unless you have some kind of plot twists/elements. Some examples could be:
1. Chance of rescue.
2. Cut off your limbs that are infected to not get infected yourself.
3. Cut the zombies to pieces (apparently Dead Space has this feature) to really kill them.
4. Add zombie types (like Left4Dead)
5. Mage needs to banish the souls?
6. Look at popular zombie media.
I would join anyways though.

What's the maximum amount of characters?

Sounds pretty fun, but you definetely need to have some plot twists or some kind of huge goal. If you make it freeform survival, this can easily get boring. Will submit char sheet.

Yeah, I know it's not that detailed, I'll get to work on that. I like contureh's ideas about dismemberment. However, in popular zombie media, a zombie has a working brain, but one that can only process the most primal of insticts; ie. Eat, defocate, and reproduce. Therefore, a zombie could be killed by a simple arrow through the head.

Fire also has a big effect on zombies. They're quite afraid of it, and since their body has lost most of its moisture, they are quite flammable.

As for the state of the empire, well, they don't really know what happened in Morrowind. Sure, they would know how everything began in the first place, but at some point they would lose communications. So nobody knows al the details.

you're right pat, the legion would be spread pretty thin on the eastern front. But for story purposes, I think that the zombies would easily break through their lines, scattering troops everywhere. The cities on the eastern end of Cyrodiil (Cheydinhal, Leyawiin) would be heavily forified.

Oh, and did I say we're starting in Chorrol? Sorry, I mixed it up with Cheydinhal. Everyone starts in cheydinhal.

Do you guys think the zombies should only come out at night? I mean techinally they're not zombies but "corprus beasts."

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind%3a%44iseases -- Corprus is all the way at the bottom.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Corprus
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Corprusarium

These are all the articles on the UESP Wiki on Corprus. Nothing really mentions about a fear to sunlight, but you could add something like that in your mutation. A break in the fighting would probably be good, but it might get slightly boring and confusing (people saying the zombies are going away now and others saying they are still there fighting the zombies). I would say maybe they will leave eventually.

Not to twist your own words, but if it is a Corprus Beast does that still mean it has a brain like a normal zombie?

Sorry for calling them zombies, but I do mean Corprus Beasts.

Yea, the basic survival instincts of almost every being. We call that part of the brain the medula oblongatta... The raptors brain.

I may join but I am in two already and one is really advancing fast with so many people so I may be a bit slow. I think that once the town is attacked maybe you have to flee north to Skyrim where there is word of a survivor stronghold? Something like that. Also you could slowly hear word of the infection spreading as you flee north, just to hear the status of the world.

Everyone please PM me any suggestions on the plot, twists, etc.

For all intents and purposes corprus beasts may be referred to as zombies.

I thinks that zombies should only come out at night. To aviod confusion, I will decide when the daylight, as well as the night, comes.

As for the ideas of fleeing to the north: I think that could work, but later in the plot. If this makes it more than one thread, I would consider that. The sub-freezing temperatures would make it much safer from corprus beasts. Their exposed body parts would easily freeze.

Although it would be hard to get communications out, I could have random survivor NPCs meet up with us on occasion, telling us news of the other provinces. These NPCs would stay with the group for a while, only to be eventually killed/dismembered/eaten by the zombie horde at a time chosen by me.

I'm going to have to ask for everyone's long-term committment on this one. I've seen too many RPs fail because people stop posting. RPers should have multiple characters at the ready, in case their current character should die. If you're not in for the long-run, though, don't bother joining,

Thanks, Subaru, I appreciate your committment.

I strongly encourage character side-plots, ie. guy's trying to find his family before world is overrun by zombies, maybe your character has a mental disorder or something that affects him during the RP. I think that maybe after the RP gets up and running, or if it makes it through a few threads, we could venture out to Vvardenfell to try and find Divayth Fyr. Or maybe some of us could work on a cure without his help. Things will develop as the RP gets going.

And yes, Bebop, his name is Mike.

EDIT: who the hell voted "No, this svcks?"

I'll join, a corpus zombie rp sounds pretty cool. Though I personally think they should come out during the day and night, forcing the survivors to create fortified positions instead of simply holding out until sunrise.

I understand why you think this should be, but I wanted to leave a space for the characters to develop, talk, sleep, etc. I especially wanted to leave room for character development.

Good point. Assuming their nightime only, then I'd reccomend that caves, sewers, and other underground areas become a lot more dangerous, making it harder to travel underground during the day.
