Always double tap.

But.. that's two bullets per zombie?!?

What are you, sitting on the Marine Corps ammo surplus or something?!?!

Bore out a hollowpoint round slightly further.. I know, it screws with the flight characteristics of the round massively but it also increases the mushrooming effect tenfold

..so just wait until they're close. Their heads'll pop like a teenager's zit. B)

I'd grab some sandpaper shoes, and with all that grip walk on the air and build an air fortress.

Hold on, what kind of zombies are we talking here? Classic Night of the Living Dead zombies? Or 28 Days Later zombies?

Zombie hedgehogs, I think. "Snaiiilllllssss", etc.

Depends... Can insects become zombies and then infect me? If so I'm screwed.

But forget human zombies, where I live there are "zombie devils" they are as bad as they sound...

I live out in the country with literally about 10 people living in a 20km radius, so I guess I'd try to make a quick trip to get some supplies then get back home to the family and try to wait it out.

However if I wasn't home when the zombie outbreak started, if I was say in a city visiting some friends or in school or something... I'd probably round up everyone who can defend themselves (my friends from BJJ, Muay Thai, Judo and Taekwondo) and do the same I did before, get supplies and go home and wait it out.

I think I'd do good in a Zombie apocalypse... I've studied 3 different martial arts in the past 5 years and I've been doing parkour / freerunning since I was 13. The only thing I'm worried about is getting zombie blood on my suit :nope:

EDIT: IF the zombies are similar to those from Resident Evil or Left 4 Dead... well it doesn't really matter what I would do because I'd die anyway. There are no guns in Iceland except for hunting rifles and shotguns and you need to have a hunting license to buy those. Handguns and automatic weapons are nowhere to be found in Iceland except maybe in the Viking Squad headquarters (The Icelandic special forces / terrorist response team), and there are very few weapons there since it's not a large force.

EDIT2: Actually, when I think about it Iceland is probably a pretty good place to be during a zombie outbreak. We have a lot of cars (658 cars per 1000 people) and the majority of those cars are large cars. A lot of off-road cars too. Do you guys remember the Top Gear episode where they went to the north pole? The cars the had were Icelandic and believe it or not cars like that are not uncommon. I see at least 5 of them every day just going to school and back.

So if my house isn't safe and I had to get my family and friends to safety the best bet would probably be to get a hold of a few cars and try to find a new safe house. Roads are not a problem when you are driving one http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Arctic-Trucks-Toyota-Hilux-2.jpg and you have enough petrol.

EDIT3: there are only about 320 thousand people in Iceland and it's not very densely populated... can zombies starve from lack of food? :P

EDIT4: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e1/StuckInSnowBetweenLaugarvatnAndThingvellir.jpg Can zombies survive -30°C?

I gotta stop editing things

Well I've studied Jeet Kune Do and Tae Kwon Do, but neither teaches me how to "Hadouken" so I don't think either would be of much use against zombies. The Parkour / free-running would be very useful though. Something I can't seem to get a grip on. :pinch:

Am I the only one who thinks that firearms are extremely ineffective against zombies?

You do realize that weapons don't have unlimited ammo like they do in the movies right? An assault rifle on full auto = less than 3 seconds to fire an entire magazine. Handguns are only useful in close quarters, shooting at anything 45m away is a waste of ammo. Speaking of ammo, most handguns carry 7-20 rounds.

Grenades then. And flamethrowers. And rocket launchers. . .

Problem is, this isn't GTA so I can't just pull one out of my pocket. Damn you Rockstar for spoiling us. :shakehead:

Do you really think I am that stupid? Of course I would carry extra ammo. ALWAYS. Just forgot to add that one.
Also, it depends on the zombie. Firearms may be ineffective against them sometimes.

As far as I know the only place you can get ammo is in gun stores and I'm pretty sure that every other survivor with a gun is heading there too. I doubt you'll find any ammo in a zombie apocalypse

Ammo is heavy, how much do you think you can carry?

That was the only thing you noticed in that long post? :P

yeah they are really called that. Víkingasveitin in Icelandic, which is directly translated as The Viking Squad

myeehh not really. Ammo is generally pretty heavy. There is a good reason soldiers only carry a few magazines into battle

That doesn't make them ineffective, it means their long term usability is crap.

However unless you're a dab shot with a crossbow, that's out. You don't want to have to rely solely on a melee weapon if you can because you have to get too close. So what are you left with?

My zombie plan (I accidentally wrote play, why has no one written a zombie play???) would have to rely on melee weapons sadly since I live in a country with pretty tight gun control so finding anything like that is unlikely.

That's so much cooler than Finland's special forces. <_< We only have the Karhu-ryhm?, literally the Bear Team.

EDIT // Yeah, firearms are probably the most effective weapon we have against zombies. I can't think of anything that would be as mobile, long-range and powerful in comparison to it's size. They might not last forever, but nothing does. Vehicles will run out of gas, crossbows will run out of ammo, firearms will run out of ammo, you'll run out of grenades and bombs. Even knives will get dull (+ force you to get close)...

It was easily the most noteworthy thing in the long post, yes :P

While not as awesome as the Viking Squad, I don't think the Bear Team is that bad either. The Dutch special forces are just called the Dutch Commando Corps -_-

Zombies generally don't interest me that much. The only thing that remotely resembles a weapon in my apartment is my kitchen knife and I live in a moderately large city, so when the zombie apocalypse comes I'm screwed anyway.

What do you mean 'not really'? .22 LR rounds are much lighter (but less effective) than .50 cal rounds. .50 cal rounds contain much more gunpowder and metal and stuff than .22 LR rounds. That means you can carry more .22 LR rounds than .50 cal rounds (at least depending on the situation).
But I don't want to argue with that now. Check wikipedia or something...
