Zombie Survival thread

Can zombies handle crossing water? Like a large lake? Because if not then I would go up to Michigan with my friends and family, meet my extended family living up there (assuming they're survivors) and live on an island out on the lake. It seems like it would be pretty practical. Sewage wouldn't be an issue because you have the lake, you could take boats ashore and the zombies couldn't get you since your surrounded by water (assuming once again that zombies can't cross the lake). We could bring boats and jetskis to the island and build docks, we could build houses and establish a legitimate society with the security that there was a whole lake separating the zombies from us.

It depends on the zombies.

If they are slow ones such as classic hollywood/The walking Dead I would get out of the city killing zeds with a bow, if the situration calls for guns (surrounded by zeds or human confrontation) use the AR-15 with .233 NATO rounds among other things and try to escape. Most likely will die regardless if only by not being able to survive when civilization is in the pit.

If they are fast ones like 28 days later/L4D getout of the citie without getting detected (unlikely) and in the case of discoverly probably takeout as many before expiring be it zed or one's own bullet. Or a very likely possibility of death coming from the barrel or blade of another survivor.

In the case of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_zombie would just involve dismissing their existence.

If there's anything I've learned from L4D it's that you shouldn't abandon your team and hide in the safe room because Tanks can destroy safe room doors. *Sigh* :sadvaultboy:

Which is why me and stormo invented the Tank bait :3 technique

by the way, we need you to play with us tomorrow

Can zombies handle crossing water?

I think they may dissolve. Or explode, I forget now. They're also terrified of watercress and salad vegetables, apparently.

I'm a bit surprised that so many people are talking about carrying 800 tons of guns and ammunition and assorted other rubbish and nobody else seems to see the merit of extra clean underwear.

Easy.

Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill - eh, nobody, grab girlfriend, go to the pub, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.

Also make sure to have your friend do an impression of a gorilla.

As far as I know the only place you can get ammo is in gun stores and I'm pretty sure that every other survivor with a gun is heading there too. I doubt you'll find any ammo in a zombie apocalypse

Ammo is heavy, how much do you think you can carry?

Thats why you stay in one fortified position during tha apocalypse, that way you just have to haul ammo to one location and stay there until you get overrun, you'll take a lot with you but if you plan on actually surviving then yeah, travel light.

The average U.S. soldier typically carries 9-12 spare mags for his/her main rifle (unless its a SAW, you're not carrying 12 drums of ammo lol) plus the one thats already in the gun. Ussually 30 rounds in each, I dont feel like math today so we'll just say thats a lot of bullets, and if you fire semi-auto you can take out a good amount of zombies before you go. Then again, these vests that can hold that much ammo are ussually very cumbersome, and even more so if its armored. My advice, carry a few extra mags for whatever gun you have and only use them when abso-fricken-lutely neccaserry....God, I can't spell right now lol. Oh, and avoid using full auto its just a waste and its really only useful in convential warfare for supressing enemy targets, I suppose it'd be good in close quarters fights since you could just spray a room of zombies in seconds, just make sure none of your buddies are in front of you :gun:

Romero zombies can. In Land of the Dead they're holed up on an island thing and the zombies realise because they don't need to breathe, they can walk across the riverbed and up the otherside. ;)

Well in Dawn of the Dead [2004] they clearly can't, but then again that's a remake by Zach Snyder and not actual Romero zombies. Plus they can run. Do the remake film zombies count?

I don't think so. I usually base my zombies off of WWZ zombies anyways. Which can walk under water

1st. Machete
2nd. Carbine, Bow (15 arrows)
3rd. Tight clothing. Kevlar vest for early riots of people.
4th. Food/Rations Painkillers water
5th. A brain.
6th. Pack binoculars, Bullets, Bandaids,
7th. Flashlights, Matches, Cigarettes(to trade the cigarettes)
8th. Get money (mostly bills)
9th. Two way radio and enough batteries to last six months.
10th. Don't be picky when it comes to eating.
11th. Maps of all areas you think you will pass by.
12th. Comics, Entertaining things. (no electronics fatties)

Now that we got that equipment done you will need a plan.
Go to a small quiet town, with nobody in it with a steady source of water near it I.E river. Get your defenses planned out all escape routes picked out. Don't fire a gun unless you have to. Zombies will hear it. Now that we got defenses picked out, you will need a steady source of food and water. Set up nets to catch fish. Get your water filtering system (boiling, steam distilling ect). Now that you have that water supply fixed, you will need food! Since you (hopefully)picked a small quiet town near a river system and little human activivity, the animals there should already be thriving! So you can hunt indefinitly with the bow you took.
Now you've gotten all your things but something is missing... Entertainment! The books and comics you took should only supply you for so long. You will need to have other things to entertain you. Maybe you brought some friends. They can be entertaining. Put up talent shows, boardgames and other things that will be entertaining.
Now, you see zombies enclosing on your position in search of food. What do you do? Leave and stay in side? Or go out and kill them with your bow. No you don't do any of those unless you have a deathwish! You go to one of your escape routes you planned. As quietly as possible, relocate because if zombies are searching for food, that means they must've exhausted their food supply at city X.

The rest is up to you!

Would say my first stop will be Wal-Mart for the gun section so I can go on a killing spree. If I can't do that then i'll hit up Target for some local....chemistry so I can get rid of the zombie population near me. Nothing says dead zombie like a fiery explosion with some home made Uncle Fester style science. :chaos:

When do they establish in Dawn that they can't walk through the water? Do you mean at the end where they sort of stop at the dock?

The zombies in Land are meant to have been around a bit longer than in Dawn, and are being 'led' by another zombie. Always assumed it would be the natural progression for zombies.

well since a lot of zombies pop out of the ground, the only logical choice is to live underground. Since they are popping out from underground, it will be clear to live a happy and sun free life.

I will dig many different tunnels, and clear out different spots with different sizes and make an underground city.

I will charge people to live underground in my tunnels and have them build houses on a "lot" that they paid for.

If I want to get warm, I will dig a tunnel down far enough to the earth's core and use it as a sauna/Summer resort. I will make millions!!!!!!
