There is no science in Zombie threads just roleplaying, necrophilia, and spam.

Going crazy and dying are different from rising from the dead with the need to eat brains and only dying from a headshot.

I dunno fits in the RP except that the Local Walmart if rancid food city considering fresh food and currently low on ammo because people are paranoid. No one really considered whether or not utilities would still be functional.
Probably the fault of the OP since no real scenario other than ZOMBIESSS?.

Lets get back to the topic. Now I think that its gonna be like Left 4 dead or something unless the virus is a parasite.

And I highly doubt that we'd be at much risk if that's the only way zombification is transmitted. It'd be more likely if the disease could transmit through the air and water sources. But only by bite? Chances are it'd be treated like a rabies case and any infected individuals would be safely contained.

You can do that with a frog's leg. big whoop, and a little far from reanimation.

Yup! What did you expect? A Zombie Apocalypse?!!! No city have ever became FULLY infected with rabbies, it can be isolated and purified. And nope, it can not be transfered in water or air BUT you can get infected via Blood. So if anything infected enter your blod...Game Over!

Considering you think it'd be a viable biological weapon, Apocalypse seems to be what you're expecting. Especially with talk of using planes and helicopters to escape.

What's to stop someone from just running over this "super-zombie" and ending it right there?

Problem: The subject wouldn't have anything running it. You'd have a corpse jerking around.

Easy access to pharmaceutical grade drugs? :P

Seriously though, on the whole Zombie coming real thing. Not unless you become a film actor, and either act as a zombie as an extra, or become an actual movie star and play one of the survivors who's trying to survive and either gets killed or is safe. There's no way, that I've known about or seen, that could be cause for me to think that the reanimation of a human or all around animal body is possible. It's just in movies, and meant to be scary fun. Until I do actually see a zombie come walking or running (it'd have to be walking or limping to be more realistic since zombies are DEAD rotted/rotting corpses and can't run or they'd fall apart.) Than I'll believe that zombies can become real.

Have you ever realized, that in actual zombie movies, where it's focused on a group of survivors and just normal zombies, they never tell you actually where or how the virus came to be. It's always speculation and ideas; the actual cause is never really told, they just give the viewer possible ideas. Like in George A. Romero movies, they talk about rabies, so one possibility is that the zombies came from a form of mutated rabies that killed them, but somehow brought them back to life.

I think it's better this way, but I do like RE and their zombies just the same, so

Well, the way Parham describes it, sure I could see it happening. But Zombies in the classic sense are more like a maybe. To many X factors.

It's logical (possible is questionable) that viruses or bacteria could evolve to keep their hosts alive while they drain their cells' energy: e.g. the bacteria keep the essential parts of the brain and such in good condition, but everything "unnecessary" such as skin or facial muscles would be consumed. Not that I'm a biologist, though.

Man, you guys are stupid. See, while all of you head to crowded places like Walmart and and gun shops during the zombie apocalypse, I'm gonna go to the bookstore. No one's gonna think to go there!

wait, wasnt there a scientist in germany who actually experimented with dead muscle tissue and saw it jump after pumping it full of electricity?

I think you might be a couple hundred years behind the times, my friend.

Define "zombie"

If you are referring to the original http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie#Zombies_in_Voodoo of vodou: well, I don't think that a clinically dead person can be brought back to life with black magic. However, there are plenty of cases on record of where a person who thinks they died will, via their own psychological belief, truly believe they are a zombie (died, then brought back to life) and obey the bokor. Belief, the human mind - it is a powerful thing. The whole 'placebo effect' can be beneficial, but also horribly harmful.

If you refer to the whole "undead" brain-eating shambling corpses thing of popular culture? Complete fairy tale.

However, in real life, there are parasites that hijack the host and turn them into unwitting slaves. Usually this is in the insect world, so I'm generally not that worried.
